This is the pre-quest to the Biolabs Enterance Quest, so if you’re planning on doing that quest, read through this guide carefully. It’s a simple quest and shouldn’t actually take you very long.

Please take note that to enter the Lighthalzen slums, you will need to speak to the Guard [lighthalzen 267 200] several times until he lets you pass. It can take a while, so if you have someone who can let you borrow a Pass for this quest it could save you a lot of time.

Step 1
First of all you will need to head to the Lighthalzen slums [the method on how to do this was stated above]. Once in the slums, look for a NPC called Maku [lighthalzen 337 232]. Start talking to him and he will talk to you about the slums. Since the slums aren’t a nice place, he’ll suggest that you go back to the main parts of Lighthalzen.

Step 2
Once back in the “nice parts” of Lighthalzen, head off to find a guy called Digotz [lhz_in02 201 210]. You can access his location by entering the hotel in Lighthalzen [lighthalzen 158 131] and heading off into one of the rooms upstairs. Start talking to Digotz and you’ll notice a bond between him and Maku.

Step 3
Stroll back to Maku [lighthalzen 337 232] and talk to him about Digotz. He will start explaining some of their past.

Step 4
Annoying as it is, you’ll then have to go back to Digotz [lhz_in02 201 210] again. Speak to him and he will tell you to pass on a message to Maku.

Step 5
Fullfil Digotz’s request and go to Maku [lighthalzen 337 232] to pass on the message. When you are told to do so, insert all of the lines of the message which Digotz gave you. You will have to pass on the exact words he gives you with all of the punctuation being correct, so I recommend that you copy the lines from above and paste them in-game using shift + insert. You will need to talk to Maku again. Due to his anger, he will somewhat try to kill you and you’ll lose 50% of your maximum HP, so make sure your HP are above 50% full or you’ll die. Once talking to him again, he will mention the name of another friend of his, Benkaistein.

Step 6
Return to Digotz [lhz_in02 201 210] and tell him that you passed on the message to Maku. Like Maku did, he will also mention Benkaistein.

Step 7
Since both of the old friends mentioned a man called Benkaistein, you’ll decide to head off to Yuno to find this guy. Head off to the Yuno Library [Yuno 340 203] and look for a Student [yuno_in04 107 14] and ask where Benkaistein is. He’ll tell you to go to the room opposite the current one.

Step 8
Look for the Passionate Student [yuno_in04 96 106], who is actually Benkaistein, and talk to him about Maku and Digotz. Due to him being busy, he will tell you to look for a book which may solve their problem.

Step 9
Head to the room above and look for the Book [yuno_in04 167 115] on the table. Pick it up and go back to Benkaistein [yuno_in04 96 106]. He will then tell you to show the book to both Maku and Digotz.

Step 10
Go back to Digotz [lhz_in02 201 210] and show him the diary. He will read through it and remember some good old times.

Step 11
Go back to Maku [lighthalzen 337 232] and give him the diary to read through. At this point, he will give you some EXP, depending on your base level.

Step 12
Due to Maku still not being so sure about what’s happening, you’ll be heading back to Digotz [lhz_in02 201 210], only to find that he got stabbed with a knife. Digotz dies and you’ll obtain a Knife [3].

Step 13
Now that’s it’s over with Digotz, head back to Benkaistein [yuno_in04 96 106] and tell him about the events. He will give you more EXP depending on your base level, along with a Pass which will enable you to access the Lighthalzen slums at any time you wish.

Introduction

After writing my leveling guide, someone asked how to get to the dungeon without a warp NPC. It seemed appropriate to make a separate guide as there are so many towns and dungeons in Ragnarok. I’ll update the last few towns with more information and include more NPC pictures for the dungeon access quests.

All of my guides are based off the information provided by ratemyserver.net.

When I’ve played on servers without a warper NPC, flywings (f-wings) and butterfly wings (b-wings) became my best friends. I recommend using these cheap items. Before making any treks, journeys, or other forays away from your home town, I suggest leveling on surrounding maps until you can survive. Certain maps have stronger monsters and I will give an aggro rating. Low levels should avoid strong maps.

Definitions and Terms:

Town Map: Maps that have Kafra and many other NPCs and no aggressive monsters. (Do I really have to define a town?)

Field Map: The World Map shows Field Maps only. To access a Dungeon, you must first travel through the correct field map in most cases (there are some short-cuts but it costs zeni).

Dungeon Map: This does not appear on the World Map. The entrances are accessed via Field Maps. Though usually “underground,” this is not always the case.

Drops: Items that the monsters “drop”. If your server does not have @autoloot 100 automatically set, the monster will drop your items on the ground. If you want to change the percentage of dropped items you keep to 50%, type the command @autoloot 50. I suggest keeping all your drops and then sell everything, except for: Equipment, Healing Items, and Cards.

Equipment: An item that can be worn by your character, found in the second tab of your inventory Alt E. Alt Q will bring up your “gear” or “equip” screen.

Healing Items: An item in the first tab of inventory that can be consumed to heal hit points or spell points. Certain special “consumables” can increase a stat or give a skill your class might not have. For example, Authoritative Badges provide the Priest buff Increase Agility.

Card: An item in the third tab of inventory. It can be put on to a specific kind of equipment to enhance your skills, stats, or provide an additional bonus.

*Note* To know what map you are on type: /where

*Note* I highly suggest making use of your kafra save points in towns. You don’t want to start all over again from scratch when traveling across the world map.

Town Access

To get to the right dungeon, first you must access the basic Towns. If you have a Town Warper, skip to the Dungeon Access section.

First we’ll break down each region of the map based on possible starting points. Usually starting points are class based. Some servers use a training ground, some customize their training grounds, and some have no training grounds. Since it’s possible to start in various towns, I’ll start with the most common.

Prontera

If this is your starting point, then you’re in luck. The surrounding maps have great monsters for low leveling.

Once you change class from novice, sell all your drops (save apples and herbs for free healing, and any equipment that you can wear) and buy flywings and a butterfly wing; just in case you run out of fwings in a sticky situation.

Izlude 600 zeni (I wouldn’t bother unless you’re very lazy, it’s one map away)

Your server should have a Cool Event Voting Staff. You can find him standing near a competing Kafra Voting Staff. The one that is “winning” in votes will provide direct warps to certain dungeons for a fee.

OR

If you are an acolyte your goal is to get to Amatsu Dungeon and later Glastheim Dungeon, use the following directions to Izlude and take a Boat to Alberta. Then follow this link to complete the Amatsu Dungeon Quest. Have Pneuma, and flywings or teleport the skill.

OR

You can make use of the Airships or Boats, if you have enough zeni. Head down/south of Prontera town (pront field 8, no aggressor rating). Then go right/east, to Izlude town.

Izlude

Izlude is a veritable trade route hub. The 2 outgoing Boat Routes are to Alberta and Byalan Dungeon. The Airship flies from Izlude to Yuno to Racheal, and repeats. If this is your starting point, you’re also in luck. The maps have easy leveling, but I’d recommend sticking to field maps until you change class from novice. Keep in mind that the Airship and Boat cost money, be sure to sell drops and save equipment you can wear.

Payon

Payon has no trade routes, but the surrounding maps are great leveling territory. First head south/down one map (payon field 1, no aggressors), or east/right one map (payon field 8, no aggressors) and kill porings to level. Once you have the idea, head north to Payon archer village. This map has no monsters the top west/left portal leads to Payon Dungeon.

Avoid payon field 7, morroc field 3, and payon field 11; there are medium to strong aggressors on those maps.

There is a safe route to Alberta, which is a harbor town with many boat routes. Once you are established in your first class sell your items for zeni to spend.

To get to Alberta head south/down two maps from Payon Town. On payon field 2 (the second map south obviously), go through the east/right portal. On payon field 3 go through right/east portal to get to Alberta.

Alberta

If you’re starting in Alberta, the map to the west/left will provide good leveling for novices. Not to sound like a broken record, but:

Alberta is a harbor city. There are also many Boat travel options here. All of which cost 10,000 zeni, I believe.

Amatsu Town can be accessed via the Sea Captain NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip.

Louyang Dungeon via the Girl NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, Louyang town is through the north warp. *Teleport to the Louyang town through the north portal and save at the kafra, before fighting anything.*

Turtle Island via the Turtle Island Scholar NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, bring potions there is no save. *Alberta is the only way to access this map unless you have a warper.

Sunken Ship via Fisk NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, some servers allow a kafra in Sunken Ship check yours before going into the dungeon. *Alberta is the only way to access this map unless you have a warper.

Izlude Town via Sailor, I believe he varies prices based on your level save at destination (feedback please).

Gonryun field via Kunlun Envoy NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip. (I don’t suggest this route unless you are 2nd Class at least; meaning a hunter, dancer, wizard.) Teleport to the portal in the center of the map (gonryun field, medium aggressive) to get to gonryun town.

Moscovia can be accessed talking to the Moscovia P R Officer for 10,000 zeni, but only if your server has Moscovia. If he’s not on the docks then the server doesn’t have the Moscovia episodes yet. There is a kafra to save.

Geffen

Geffen is the isolated Town of the Mage and Wizard guild. The North/Up, East/Right, and West/Left maps provide excellent leveling for novices. Once you have some of your 1st Class skills, there are Kafra Dungeon warps.

Prontera 1200 zeni

Mjolnir Dead Pit 1700 zeni

If you don’t want to pay, you can walk or teleport to Prontera Town with flywings. To get to Prontera from Geffen, walk East/Right 3 maps to Mjolnir Field 9. Head through the South/Down Portal. On Prontera field 5, use the East/Right Portal to get to Prontera Town. There are no aggressive monsters this route.

Morroc

Another of Rune Midgard’s isolated Towns; Morroc is a desert city home to the thieves. All the maps surrounding morroc have non aggressive monsters; except for Comodo field 8 (medium aggressors).

Once you are established in your first class, explore further east on the desert maps. When you can survive Desert Wolves, you can walk to Prontera, Payon, Izlude towns. Sell all your drops (save healing items and any equipment that you can wear) and buy flywings and a butterfly wing; just in case you run out of fwings in a sticky situation. Use the World Map to trace your own route to the town of your choice.

Al De Baran

I have never played on a server with Alde as a starting point, but better safe than sorry. To the north of Alde is a field map with Porings and no aggressive monsters. Once you’re bored of porings switch to poporings. Then try Pecos. If you get bored there is always Lutie which can be accessed via the Santa NPC in Alde.

You can use flywings to explore north or south. South warp leads to Mjolnir_12 which has the one of the entrances to Hidden Temple; however there are Stem Worms on this map which are aggressive. You can continue south from this map to get to Prontera Town through three maps: Mjolnir_fild05 (medium aggro), mjolnir_fild10 (strong aggro), prt_fild01 (no aggro). The journey isn’t very long, but there are some fast aggro monsters en-route.

North is a long and dangerous route to Yuno, with many aggressive monsters. The safest route is north one to yuno_fild01(no aggro), left/west one to yuno_fild09(medium aggro), left/west one map to yuno_fild08 (low aggro), up/north to yuno_fild02 (medium aggro), left/west two maps to yuno_fild03 (strong aggro-mini bosses) and to yuno_fild04 (medium aggro), then through the north map to get to Yuno Town.

Comodo

Home of the musical artists of Rune Midgard, Comodo is an unusual place to start the game. I might even say cruel. I shudder to imagine a poor little 1/1 novice trying to level starting out in Comodo, so I won’t even bother continuing this section.

The Northern Region of Rune Midgard:

The easiest way to get to the Northern region is to fly the Airship from Izlude to Yuno. This does cost zeni, keep it in mind. The Airship Guide can be found here. Use the World Map to trace your own route to the town of your choice.

Yuno

Yuno is the crossroads for Airship Routes.

Dungeon Access

Basic Dungeon Knowledge:

Most servers will not allow you to /memo (saves warp point on a priest character) inside a dungeon. However, you can memo the field map that leads to a dungeon, if there are no MVP or mini-bosses on that map. Some servers may allow memo of all field maps including maps with MVPs or mini-bosses and exclude dungeons only. The best way to be sure is to test it once. Priests and High Priests are convenient to have as a second character in a warper free server, because they can warp you much closer to your final destination. They also have unlimited teleports (as long as SP lasts).

I will give walking/teleporting directions to each dungeon. If you want a different starting location than the one I listed, stop being lazy and go look at the World Map. Most experienced players know to do this on their own.

Dungeon Ratings:

Very Easy: Low level beginners solo.

Easy: Low level with basic equips solo.

Moderate: Mid levels with basic equips solo.

Difficult: High levels with good equips and a group.

Master: High Levels with great equips and a group.

Abyss Lake Dungeon

First a Maze of shadows and trick walls to test your strength, endurance, and intellect. Next, a mysterious Underground Forest with action around every corner. Last is the Underground Shrine, beware the ancient guardian.

The easiest way to get to Amatsu is to use the round trip boat route from Alberta.

Ant Hell

Level with the insects but beware the Queen of the insects and her grumpy sister too…

Non-transcended classes under level 95 (94 or lower) can’t get to bio labs level 3, transcended classes under level 90 (89 or lower) can’t get to bio labs level 3.

Byalan Island Dungeon

Byalan to Dungeon, Byalan 0, Byalan 1, Byalan 2, Byalan 3, Byalan 4

Under the sea you can find some great aquatic monsters. Crabs, octopi, squid, fish, mermaids, mermen, and strange Strouf are abundant in this oceanic dungeon.

Clock Tower

The Clock Tower is full of lots of neutral monsters. The Clocks on level 2 are a great way to farm Elunium.

Coal Mine / Mjolnir Dead Pit

The Coal Mines are filled with Tarou and Familiars. As you head deeper the Earthy Giearths and Undead Skeleton Workers start to appear. The deepest dungeon has poisonous Mysts and overwhelming numbers of undead, look out for the tough Cramps they are a real pain.

Dimensional Gorge

Once Morroc town has been destroyed the Dimensional Gorge will replace many maps in the eastern region. It is within the Dimensional Gorge that Satan Morroc will be found. You must complete the Continental Guard Quest to access the Dimensional Gorge.

Einbroch Mine Dungeon

Strange Noxious and Venomous fumes dominate the first floor, as well as the undead Pitman and mutated Porcellio. The lowest dungeon contains animated stoves and the King of Animated objects, RSX 0806.

Geffen Dungeon

Geffen 0, Geffen 1, Geffen 2, Geffen 3

Hunter Flies and poisonous mushroom Spores dominate the first level. As you descend into the dungeon proper you will encounter Halloween oriented monsters. Beware Dracula on Geffen dungeon level 1, and the Doppelganger on Geffen dungeon level 2.

Geffenia

In Geffenia nothing is what it appears. The angels aren’t really angels, and the Knights are abysmal. Trust nothing. The quest to enter this dungeon is not for the impatient or the faint of heart.

Geffenia requires completion of “The Sign” quest to access the dungeon. This quest is long, tedious, and has many steps. Follow this link to the guide that I use.

Glast Heim

Introduction:

Speed Potions increase movement speed for a short period of time.

They are useful for escaping or catching up to enemies. They are also great to use during War of Emperium.

This is a Map of Lighthalzen, Location 1 (top: 240, 216), Location 2 (middle: 220, 169), and Location 3 (bottom: 164, 127).

This is the NPC that you will walk by to start a dialog. The NPC name is Suspicious Guy.

Preparation:

Each character that wishes to buy speed pots must have the NPC “pick pocket” them for various amounts of zeny (10-200z) at one of the locations 1 or 2 until he warps off the screen. You will have to let him “pick pocket” you until you catch him and he escapes to location 3 (there is a 1/3 chance of success).

He will only be at one location at a time. If you can catch him “pick pocket” you at location 3, he will have no where to escape (there is a 1/5 chance of success). He will then sell you your choice of 1, 2 or 3 speed potions for 15,000 zeny each.

*If you have 0 Zeny, he will still pick-pocket you and warp off screen, costing you nothing. So get your money to buy speed pots AFTER you have warped him away from location 1 or 2.*

*Make Sure to get your money before going to Location 3, Speed Potions cost 15,000 zeny each. This quest is repeatable*

The slow way to get speed pots is to be pick-pocketed at location 1 until he warps away, then at location 2, and repeat until he appears at location 3. Then you run down to location 3 and buy the potions. You can only buy three (3) potions at one time. Once you buy potions he will warp back to location 1 and/or location 2. The warping is not consistent. Often he will jump between location 1 and 2 repeatedly, without going to location 3.

Three people are needed for the most efficient way to get speed pots. Ask any woe active members, or your guild-master (who should always want more), to come with you. There is a good reason for 3 people to go at once. Otherwise it takes forever and involves a lot of running between the three spots. If you bring more than three people, more than one person can buy the speed pots at once.

The Fast Way:

If you have only 3 people: One person standing at Location 1 (with 0 zeny), a second person at Location 2 (with 0 zeny), and the Third is given all the money and buys all the pots at Location 3. That person will split the pots 3 ways between all three players when finished. Obviously, bring only close friends. You can only buy a Maximum of Three (3) potions at a time and only at Location 3. If you enter 4 or more when buying Speed Potions, you will get None. After buying the potions, the NPC will warp off screen and must be bribed off Locations 1 and 2 with more pick-pocketing. Then you can buy at Location 3 again.

If you have 4 or more people: Make sure that everyone has been pick-pocketed at either starting location. Have 1 player on each Location 1 and 2. The Third Location will have the other 2-5 people. When the NPC appears at Location 3, walk by him to get the dialog, but Do Not Buy Speed Pots Yet. Use the insert key to sit without leaving chat with the NPC. Once everyone has entered chat with the NPC they will all be sitting, at this point you can buy a Maximum of Three (3) potions at a time. If you enter 4 or more you will get NONE. The NPC will warp off screen and must be bribed off Locations 1 and 2 with more pick-pocketing. Then you can buy at Location 3 again. All the people that start a chat with the NPC before he warps away will be allowed to buy speed pots.

If you can run more than one game client at once: you can set up a character at each Location, or multiple characters at Location 3.

The more people you have on Location 3 the faster you can get speed pots. I highly encourage going in large groups and stocking up as much as you can.

Introduction

Whenever I ask if anyone wants to go to Thanatos, the response is usually:
“Yea!! Let’s kill Thanatos!!!!”
Well, to be honest just getting there is pretty tricky.
There is a Thanatos quest. The quest is similar to Vesper or Kiel but much longer.

The new updates of the base quest are listed here. Only one complete set of Magic Charm Stones is needed to summon Thanatos. If most people get the Stones and Keys then we can summon Thanatos each trip. The Yellow Key is the toughest to obtain. It’s also best to go with people who already know the way.

Preparation

Before you go it’s best to have 1 priest, 1 tank, 1 ranged, and 1 AoE caster. There is also a party requirement for 5 people. You also need an equip-able level 4 weapon (to get the Red Key). Level 4 weapon not +4. Friends reminded me to suggest a Fortune Sword for all but acolyte class, and Golden Mace/Girl’s Diary for the priests.

Only transcended classes can reach the top of the tower. The door on floor 6 leading to floor 7 prevents all non-re-birthed characters from passing.
All of these builds are an approximation; feel free to customize each build to fit your playing style. Do not come to Thanatos with Asura, do not wear a Ghostring vs ANY of the mini bosses or MVP. Do NOT wear an Evil Druid Card, you will need to be resurrected at some point I promise. High flee or close range classes will die fast on higher levels.

The Gear

*Note* High Refine means past the safe point of refining. I prefer to get +5 to +9 on all my gear. This usually requires breaking multiple equipments until one succeeds. I’ve only gotten one +10, but I’m lazy.

If you want to hunt Thanatos gear here is a good idea of what to use. Armors vary by class, I thought I might include some uber gears for the fun of it. This is not a complete list. If you’re really serious about your gear visit ratemyserver.net and use the Item Search engine.

Shields:

Mirror Shield, Orlean’s Plate, Stone Buckler, Strong Shield, Thorny Shield, Valk Shield with: Executioner(Reduce 25% Damage vs large type)/Teddy Bear(Reduce damage from Undead monster 30%)/Anubis(Reduce damage from Angel type 30%)

Garment:

Valk Manteau, Wool Scarf, Mithril Magic Manteau, Pauldron, Manteau, Muffler with: Marionette(Resist Ghost)/Jakk(Resist Fire)/Orc Zombie(Resist Undead)/Isis(Resist Shadow)/Raydric(Resist Neutral)

Accessories:

For Str characters Slotted Ring with Tarou for Cramp combo is better than mantis alone.

On the second floor have the whole party meet at the entrance to the third floor. Make sure that everyone in party is with you, or he will not let you through. Gather near the NPC and tell him you are ready to warp through. A Warp to the third level will appear. This is the “Party Door” you must have atleast 5 people in party to get past. If you have a full first party (12 people max in party) the door will still open for the second party with no worries about party size.

The Red Key

Third Level: Neutral, Shadow, and Holy.

Head south from where you appear on the map. To this spot:

This is the first level with a key. (Thanatos_3) The Red Key is obtained by talking to a “Mechanism”. This is the same as interacting with any other NPC. First thing, you must equip the level 4 weapon.

*ASSASSINS*: it is equipped on the “right hand” but this appears on left side of gear… assassins can equip weapons in both hands. The level 4 weapon must be on the weapon side not the shield side.

Simply click on the mechanism to start a dialog. It will offer you various options. You must “attack the field” with your level four weapon. Once you have the Red Key, head to the next floor.

The Yellow Key

Fourth Level: Neutral, and Fire.

*Only one Yellow Key is needed for the whole party. So, choose someone good with math*

It will ask you for three different numbers. You can’t use the same number twice. You can’t use 0. After a certain amount of time it will kick you out. It says how many are right and how many are in the right sequence.

So you have:

Then remember how many are correct, and how many are in correct sequence.

Write it down it helps…

Use a variation that you can remember combining two from the highest number right so far. (Meaning if there were 2 right in 123 use 1 and 2) Then use the next highest rate. (Meaning if one was right in 789 use 8)

*If one of them has none right use 4, 5, or 6

I’m sure that by this time if you haven’t gotten it right… the machine kicked you out. Just talk to it again, starting over. The number changes every time you talk to it. The best thing is to be fast. Some people do get lucky. My last time going someone said it was 123 for him or her. (They were done first =P)

Investigate the drawer and you get the Yellow Key.

The Blue Charm Stone is found in the lower center of the map. You must first have the Blue Key to obtain this item. The Blue Key is found on the next floor, so it will always take two trips to get a full set. Head to the next floor… I would suggest keeping buffs active at all times.

The Blue Key

Level Five: Neutral, Fire, Earth, Shadow, Water, and Ghost Properties.

Beware:

Owl Baron, easy to kill. Spawns 2 Owl Dukes. Use Bragi, Stormgust, and Lex.

Thanatos Dolor / Dolor of Thanatos Undead, Small, Ghost 4. Tough. Turn Undead or Immaterial Arrows are fastest. This monster takes no damage from Neutral. Be wary of his soul burn.

(Thanatos_5) Once again the spawn is very mobby. Hope you survived those Owl Dukes and Owl Barons. Rotate Camera around so that you are facing down. Otherwise the Mechanism is very tricky to see. Now having rotated the camera… walk to the left, then down the stairs (if you don’t want to rotate your camera view it’s to the right). The Blue Key is in the corner… This one must be obtained by “Lifting together” so your party members must be next to the mechanism. Remember to fix the camera.

The Red Charm Stone is obtained on the far right of the map (type in Red Key).

The Green Key

Sixth Level: Neutral, Fire, Earth, Shadow, Water, and Ghost.

Beware of:

Thanatos Maero / Maero of Thanatos Undead, Medium, Ghost 4. Tough. This Monster CLOAKS! Have sight, ruwach, heaven’s drive, and true sight ready. Once again ghost property attacks and Turn undead are the fastest ways to kill her.

*Jurassic Park Moment* “Shoot her!! Shoooooot heeeeeer!!”

Divide the map here into Quarters. If anyone has the Black Key from a previous trip: the Black Charm Stone is obtained in the top right corner. Type in Black Key. If you do not have a Black Key that’s ok it’s your first trip it will take 2 trips to get a whole set.

(Thanatos_6) The top left quadrant is where the Green key can be found.

Move to the lower center of that quadrant. The spot to talk to the NPC-or mechanism-is shaped like a small rectangle. You must align the gears correctly here. The Sequence is as follows:

First Small Wheel Raise

Second Small Wheel Lower

First Big Wheel Push Vertically

Second Big Wheel Raise

Third Big Wheel Raise

Then choose go back.

Just examine the drawer to get the key. Any Non-Trans/Non-Rebirth “slaves” or “leechers” will not pass the next door. Trans class only from this point onward.

There is not one Key or even a single Charm Stone on this level.

You may wonder: “Then why the Eye-Stabbing Bright Pink?” This is because the only Odium of Thanatos that drops a “Fragment of Hatred” is found on this level. As discussed later, the Fragments are required for the Final Thanatos Summoning.

Thanatos Odium / Odium of Thanatos Undead, Large, Ghost 4. Tough. Pneuma will protect vs grimtooth-like attack. Use Turn Undead or Ghost property on him. Make sure to have one HP ready to res/pnuema.

No Key or Stone on this level. Make sure someone in the party has a Fragment of Hatred.

The Black Key

Level Nine: Fire, Neutral, Holy, Shadow, and Ghost.

Thanatos Dolor / Dolor of Thanatos This monster has 2 kinds in game. This one drops all the equips and items. Undead, Small, Ghost 4. Tough. Turn Undead or Immaterial Arrows are fastest. This monster takes no damage from Neutral. Be wary of his soul burn. The second monster drops only diamonds or brigand at low rate.

Now you have to make it to the 9th floor. (Thanatos_9) The last key is the Black Key. All you have to do is talk to the Statue in the Upper Left corner and type in Key. Getting there is more than half the battle though… =P

The Really Tough Section: Charm Stones

Now that you have all the keys you can retrieve the Magical Stones. You must backtrack to obtain them. Recent updates have removed the warps back. Some choose to exchange their stones as they go. Despite this you will need to backtrack for the blue stone no matter what. The location of the mechanism for the Blue Charm Stone is on Floor 4; and the Blue Key is Floor 5. Therefore, it will take 2 trips.

BEFORE WARPING BACK TO TOWN: Please note that the Green Charm Stone is Located on Floor 10. Head to the next level and get it before warping back. Though this is unnecessary, it is more efficient.

Head back to town and run up the tower as fast as possible. When you get to the Statue for the magic Charm Stone type in the exact name (Case Sensitive) of the corresponding key. I have indicated stone locations on the floor maps. The original maps were obtained from ratemyserver.net; I simply highlighted the appropriate area with an ellipse.

Stone Locations:

Thanatos_4- Obtain Blue Charm Stone type in Blue Key (South Center)

Thanatos_5- Obtain Red Charm Stone type in Red Key (North East)

Thanatos_6- Obtain Black Charm Stone type in Key (North West) That’s right, you Do NOT type in Black Key you type in Key.

Thanatos_7- Obtain Yellow Charm Stone type Yellow Key (North East)

Thanatos_10- Obtain Green Charm Stone type Green Key (North Center)

See the description of each level for any possible screen shots for Stone Locations. The location is also marked on the Map for that level.

Thanatos Maero / Maero of Thanatos This second monster drops only diamonds or brigand at low rate.

Remember the Green Stone! There’s no going back for anyone who lingers and dies either. When you decide to leave the level: Leave Together. It happens quite often actually.

Now that you have all 5 Magic Charm Stones you have all quest items needed. Before moving on make sure that you have 4 fragments (Fragment of Sorrow, Agony, Hatred, and Despair). If you don’t have all of them: you can farm them on Floor 11. Except for: The Fragment of Hatred is only on Level 8. These Fragments are used on the roof level in the final summoning.

Beware:

Thanatos Odium / Odium of Thanatos. Only the second kind of Odium spawns on this level. This monster drops diamonds and brigand, no fragments. Remember to maintain pneuma vs grimtooth!

Put My Stone Where?!?

(Thanatos_12) Wow you’re almost there. This level we put our Charm Stones into the statues. You must put each Charm Stone in the correct corresponding Statue. The statue has the color at the base. The order is important.

1st Statue: use the Red Charm Stone in the Red Statue located left center on the map.

2nd Statue: has a Yellow glow at the base it uses Yellow Stone. Find it to the center right.

3rd Statue: is close to where you appear when you first get to the map uses Blue Stone.

4th Statue: uses the Black Stone, and is found in the top north.

5th Statue: bring the Green Stone to the bottom right corner. Move quickly and stay together!

This will open the warp in the center. Go!

Final Summoning Procedure~

At this point, I suggest you take a screenshot of the awesome scenery. =D

Roof Level:

Now that you’re finally on the roof. You will need drops from the Thanatos monsters to activate the Final Thanatos Summoning. It’s in a particular order (of course).

When you use the Fragment the corresponding monster appears:

First is Despero:

Second is Dolor:

Third is Odium:

Fourth is Maero:

Last Step walk to the North Point and the monsters will spawn on you.

Once this wave of Thanatos mobs is dead Thanatos will appear.

Thanatos / Memory of Thanatos[MVP] (1) Spawn upon quest completion. Demon, Large, Ghost 4. Immune to Asura. Use immaterial ranged attacks to deal the most damage. Ice wall can be used to keep the MVP back, but if someone attacks from behind icewall the MVP will warp.

Teleporting is allowed on the roof. Use this to your advantage. Have one High priest always teleporting to safety during attacks. Once clear he/she can resurrect or redemptio as needed.

There’s also the drive by shooting technique. Solo Gypsy/Bard/Sniper stand out of range and targets the MVP. When the mvp turns to attack they warp away. Repeat.

If you have a good sized party: use ice walls to funnel the MVP and Land Protector to keep people alive. Devotion the damage dealers or a geared tank. Teleport when near death. Repeat. My last tip for killing him: always have the back-up Remeptio HP teleporting with fly wings – not the skill teleport (since SP will be gone after Redemptio).

This guide shows how to summon Thanatos Phantom at the top of Thanatos Tower.

I’m not english speaker, so I’m sorry about spelling mistakes ^^U

What do you need?

Releasing the boss:

• Fragment of Agony (dropped by Thanatos Dolor)

• Fragment of Despair (dropped by Thanatos Despero)

• Fragment of Hatred (dropped by Thanatos Odium)

• Fragment of Sorrow (dropped by Thanatos Maero)

Thanatos Quest – The Keys

To enter to Thanatos tower you must go to hu_fild01, talk to the guard and pay the fee to enter to the tower.

Inside, you have to talk to the Guide, called Ditze, and apply for the repairs on the tower.

She’ll request you going to the next floor to find the 2nd Floor Guide. Once you find him, he’ll warp you to the next floor (only if you’re in a five-member party).

On the 3rd floor you have to find a machine that will give you the Red Key. You need to equip a Lv4 weapon to obtain it.

On the 4th floor you have to find another machine, but now you’ll be required to solve a puzzle. You have to guess 3 numbers between 1 to 9 (without repeating). Every turn you have to input 3 numbers and the machine will tell you how many of them are correct and how many of them are in the combination but not in the right position. You have 5 attempts. If you fail, the machine will reset and the code will change. When you solve the puzzle, you’ll obtain the Yellow Key. Only one thing… Just be patient.

On the 5th floor you have to find the third machine, which will give you the Blue Key. Here you’ll need at least 3 members of your party to open it. You have to get closer to the machine and speak to it. Here you’ll obtain the third key.

On the 6th floor you have to find the last machine. This machine has got 5 wheels that can switch in three positions. You have to switch all the wheels to make the same sound. This is the combination:

1. 1st Small Wheel -> Raise Wheel (1st option)
2. 2nd Small wheel -> Lower Wheel (2nd option)
3. 1st Big Wheel -> Vertically Shift Wheel (3rd option)
   
4. 2nd Big Wheel -> Raise Wheel
5. 3rd Big Wheel -> Raise Wheel

When you put them in the correct position it’ll give you the Green Key.

Now you’ve to go to the 9th floor and find another device to get the last key. The device is on the up-left corner and you’ll have to input the word Key to obtain the Black Key.

Thanatos Quest – The Charm Stones

The next step is to get the Charm Stones. Every Key you get before will be to get the same charm (Green Key -> Green Charm Stone, etc.)

You might want to start the tower from the bottom to the top again to get the charm stones after you have obtained all the keys.

The first one is the Blue Charm Stone and you’ll find the seal to get it on the 4th floor. Speak to the seal and insert Blue Key to obtain the Blue Charm Stone.

The second one is the Red Charm Stone and you’ll find the seal to get it on the 5th floor. The same as before, you speak to the seal and insert Red Key to obtain the Red Charm Stone.

The third one is the Black Charm Stone, the seal is on the 6th floor. The same as before, speak and insert Black Key to obtain the Black Charm Stone.

The next one is the Yellow Charm Stone, the seal is on the 7th floor. Speak and insert Yellow Key and you’ll obtain Yellow Charm Stone.

The last one is the Green Charm Stone, the seal is on the 10th floor and you’ll obtain the Green Charm Stone inserting Green Key when speaking.

Now you have all the Charm Stones you can go to the top of the tower. You have to go to the 12th floor and insert all the Charm Stones in their statues. Here is a map with the location of the statues.

In the first statue you must insert the Red Charm Stone.

The second stone is the Yellow Charm Stone.

The next one is the Blue Charm Stone.

The fourth one is the Black Charm Stone.

And finally, the last one, the Green Charm Stone.

When you insert all the Charm Stones a warp will be opened in the center of the map and it’ll warp you to the top of the tower. This warp won’t close until you kill the MVP, so if you still haven’t killed it and other people who’re not in your party come across, they’ll be able to kill it without needing to collect any Charm Stones (because the path has already been opened).

Thanatos Quest – How to release the Boss

(Finished by Staff due to guide inactivity, we recommend the author leave these unchanged.)

At the top level (thana_boss), this is where you will need the four fragments as mentioned at the beginning of the guide. Follow the direction of the map below, go to each platforms to insert the corresponding fragments. Each time there will be a monster summoned, you must kill it before going to the next platform.

It seems there is no particular order required to insert which first or last, as long as you insert the correct fragment to each. Be careful that the input could be case sensitive. For example, typing ‘Fragment of Sorrow’ will work but ‘Fragment of sorrow’ might not.

At each platform, you have to step at near the center to activate the input box. Be sure to have the correct fragments in your inventory … if not then you must go back. The monster will summon as soon as you hit enter, so you better be able to tank a bit or do whatever it takes to stay alive (or just wait for res).

Recommended order is to start from Fragment of Sorrow (thana_boss 217,167):

Then work your way down clock-wise to Fragment of Agony (thana_boss 202,75):

Fragment of Hatred (thana_boss 80,76):

Fragment of Despair (thana_boss 62,171):

After the four fragments are inserted and monsters are defeated. You have to get to the north platform. In this north platform, you have to step near the center to trigger the monster summon. When you stepped onto the right tile (thana_boss 141,218), four monsters you previously summoned and defeated will be summoned again right next to you (be sure you can tank a few hits or just wait for res), again you must defeat them.

Once you have done that, Thanatos Phantom and his minions will be waiting for you at his spawn point (thana_boss 139,129).

Tips:

1) If you are stuck at one of the top floors looking for portal, this might help:

Click on the green label for the floor you are currently stuck in, it will show you the floor map and also a green label to thana_step (that is the portal you should go to get out of that floor).

2) If you are getting the message “The statue is emanating an intense light, making it so hot” at the statues or “You cannot approach the crest because it is generating intense heat.” at the top floor, that means Thanatos have been summoned not long ago. You have to way at least 2 hours for the quest to reset.

3) If you have finished the quest and you want to summon the Thanatos Phantom you need to get the five Charm Stones again, so you need to start again the entire quest (but you don’t need to talk to Ditze). Remember to wait 2 hours since you defeat the MVP.

4) If you don’t find the warp to the next floor in the un-mapped floors (from 9th to 12th) just look here, the warps you’re looking for can be marked.

Okay! Here’s a small, simple quest that can get you a random taming item! It starts in Amatsu with an NPC named “Publisher”. She will be standing between 2 cherry blossom trees in the mid-eastern part of Amatsu.

if you talk with her, she’ll say how she published her latest story scroll. A story about a town being harassed by Dokebis, and of the small boy Mimitoro, who rescues the citizens by defeating the Dokebis. Because of the great success of the story being published(over one million scrolls sold) they decided to hold a Mimitoro field trip. Agree to participate in this field trip and you’ll be warped to an waiting area. If theres a person in the battle room already, sit down and wait.

As your warped into the testing room, you will first see a little bit of acting. Two people ranting how the Dokebis hacked their accounts and made off with 120 million Zeny. When the game starts, 8 Dokebis spawn, and they have to be dead within 6 minutes.

When all 8 Dokebi’s are dead, a coach will appear, and then you can talk with him. If you say to him something like “Psh, it was easy.” or “it was Boring”, he will then challenge you to another round, except this time with Am Muts.

If you finish earlier, you will have to wait out the 6 minutes in the room. When the 6 minutes are done, you are then warped out into a random area of Amatsu. Walk back to the Publisher lady to receive your reward.

Yep! This quest is a short quest, but it can be done with any character once. And this is a random Taming item reward, meaning it could be anything.

Quest Repeatable: No

Step 1: Find Sincere Follower Urstia at Rachel (157,183). She is located a little north from the center fountain. Shows interest to her talk of Freya, she will tell you about her son. Accept her request at the end of the conversation, she will give you a Gray Necklace (Ashy Necklace). You will need to take the necklace to Maheo in the Ice Dungeon.

Step 2: Go find the Man Stuck in Ice in Ice Dungeon Level 2 (120,105) [click here to see how to get to the Ice Dungeon]. Talk to him, he is Maheo who Urstia is looking for. He will agree to help you to shine the necklace but you have to get him out of the ice first. To do that, he will ask you to find his master who is located near Freya’s Spring.

Step 3: So go find Hamion at Rachel (265,98), just a little south from the East Entrance of Rachel by the water area. He will ask you to bring him 1 Hammer [2] , 1 Blank Scroll and 5 Rough Wind in order to create the magical artifact that will break the ice that is trapping Maheo. You can get the Black Scroll in the Sage Academy in Yuno (the Seller is very close to the entrance).

So find these items and bring them back to him. He will use them to create a Hammer of Wind. Now go back to Maheo and break the ice to free him.

Once you done that, he will help you shine the necklace. The Gray Necklace (Ashy Necklace) will become a Shining Necklace (Sparkling Necklace). You will also obtain 4 Ice Powder (Freezing Snow Powder). Now you can take the necklace back to Urstia and she will reward you with 700,000 base experience points as appreciation.

(optional steps)

Step 4a: By completing this quest, you now have the ability to summon Ktullanux (MVP) located at level 3 of the Ice Dungeon. First, you have to extinguish the 4 Blazing Fire with the 4 Ice Powder (Freezing Snow Powder) obtained from Maheo. The 4 Blazing Fire are each located at near the center of the map, each at a corner in the center square area [(126,126), (172,126), (172,172) and (127,172)].

Once you have extinguished all 4 Blazing Fire, Ktullanux will speak and show up at the south-center stone path (150, 130). Now that you have summoned Ktullanux, it’s time to kill him …

Note 1: If you cannot the see the Blazing Fires at the 4 locations, that mean somebody have summoned Ktullanux not long ago. You will have to wait a maximum of 2 hours for the Blazing Fires to appear again.

Note 2: After you used your 4 Ice Powders, you cannot get them again from Maheo. To summon Ktullanux in the future, you can use 4 Ice Scales (dropped by Ktullanux) to extinguish the 4 Blazing Fire instead.

Step 4b: This step is not related to 4a, you don’t have do the two in the order listed. Now another advantage of finishing this quest is that you can sell your Ice Heart (common drop in Ice Dungeon) to Mohadian for 375 zeny each. Mohadian is located just southwestern from the center fountain by the food market in Rachel (113,96).
