Item Required: 1 Yellow Gemstone

Effect: Casts a random skill (can be ANY player skill e.g. Auto Counter or Hide and some special skills) at your own skill level. May produce some odd and funny effects. Requires 1 Yellow Gemstones to use, and anything the produced skill would require e.g. Trap, Blue Gem, Red Gem or Paintbrush. The produced skill will change in a random pattern with each cast. Even with catalyst reducing items (Mistress Card) or buffs (Bard/Dancer Into the Abyss) the cost will not drop below 1 Yellow Gemstone; a For-Fun-Skill.

This is the official description of Abra. It also includes some other interesting effects. One of these is a skill that looks like this:

This skill will do 5 things:

· Instant Kill

· Monocell (changes monster into a Poring)

· Change Class (Transform normal monster to MVP and MVP to normal monster)

· Fortune (Increase zeni = your level x 100 zeni)

· Tame monster

Preparation

The most effective way to Summon an MVP using Abra requires some support classes… meaning friends. All of you should be in a party together. It will reduce the cost of Abra if both dancer and bard are in the same party as the Profs.

Classes you need:

Prof or more to cast Abracadabra the more the better,

Creator to spawn mushrooms with Plant Cultivation to be transformed into the MVP and to Acid Demo the MVP,

Dancer and Bard for Into the Abyss Ensemble: All party members within the area of effect are able to cast spells without gemstones and lay traps without using an item; then vs. the MVP the Bard uses Poem of Bragi and the Dancer uses Please Don’t Forget Me and Service For You.

High Priest for Ruwach during the Abra stage and to Lex Aterna vs. the MVP,

Sniper with boss bow and/or Champ with boss chain just to kill the MVP,

High Wizard for Aoe spells and Ice wall,

Paladin in Gospel/Devotion build to keep people alive or tank low MVPs, and

Assassin Cross or Stalker to lure large MVPs.

Items you need

If you have a dancer bard playing Into the Abyss as I suggest, it will not cost any gems (I know what the skill says, but it’s not true unless the GMs fix it). Otherwise, you will need alot of Yellow Gems on the prof. I suggest that everyone involved pitches in for the expense of buying gems. Use a discount merchant to buy them. You will also want to have potions on everyone in addition to using the town healer. Green potions in case the MVP has a screen silence. You will also want to have fwings if a strong mvp is summoned and it is camping spawn point. Blue gems in abundance on the High Priests ready to res.

• White Potions, or Condensed White Potions, or Mastela Fruits
• Green Potions
• Fly wings
• Blue gems
• Yellow gems (if you don’t have Into the Abyss)

Getting Started

Before doing anything warn everyone in all allied guilds that you will be doing Abra. Once you tell the afk people in town, set up a nice big party with exp on Share and items on Take. If you have enough people make 2 parties. While the Abra summoners work on summoning have the rest of the party hang in pvp, or hunt gear. The wait on summoning an MVP can be long or short it truly is random.

Set up the ensemble song Into the Abyss. Once that is set the Profs can stand in the AoE and spam the Abra Skill. Just keep pressing the hot-key and watch the letters for the skill in Green.

While the Profs spam, the Creator should set up 2-3 mushrooms. When one of the Profs gets the “????” skill target a mushroom with it. It may change into an MVP if you’re lucky; if it doesn’t keep spamming.

Make sure that those who aren’t spamming stay patient. It’s kinda rude when there’s one or two people doing everything. *Hint if you get bored of waiting, make a Sage or Prof and help Summon too*

Killing the MVP

Once the MVP is summoned send a call out to everyone in your party and double check with allied guilds to see if anyone new wants to join. One trick is spider web + safetywall + tank/devotion + ice walls + town healer + lex aeterna + Abyss Knight carded weapons = almost any MVP dead, or you can make a Stargladiator with Feeling set in the town. First have the Sinx lure the MVP off screen south from the spawn point. Clown and Gypsy set up bragi and service for you while the High Priest buffs. Paladin Gospels then Devotions the essential classes (HP and damage dealer). High Wizard sets up Ice Wall to discourage the MVP from walking north. All classes prep for onslaught. Buy items and get specific gear for the MVP. Example: Fire Armor vs. Eddga, Holy Weapon vs Atroce, etc. Land Protector can help against some MVP AoE skills, but be sure to be careful where you cast it. LP blocks Gospel, Sanctuary, Safetywall, and Ice wall also.

If you don’t know what to use vs an MVP go to http://ratemyserver.net and look up its race/size/element. Then look up cards that affect each type. By alternating cards the bonuses stack completely. Ex: 4 Hydras is not as good as 3 Hydras and 1 Skeleton Worker.

Q: How do I make a guild?

A: You need an Emperium and then you type in /guild “Guild Name”

Q: How do I use a custom emblem for my guild?

A: This can be tricky if you don’t know what to do. First, the Emblem must be a 24 x 24 pixel image in the .bmp (bitmap) format. In the RO folder, make a folder named Emblem. Put the Emblem you want to use into the Emblem folder. In game open your guild information screen, click the edit button, and select the emblem you want to use. For help on how to create a cool looking emblem read this post at the RO Empire Forums.

Q: How do I delete a guild?

A: First, only the current guild master can break a guild. Expel everyone from guild and then type in /breakguild “Guild Name”

Q: How do I leave a guild?

A: Open the guild screen with Alt G. Find your name in the List of members, right click your name, choose the option to leave guild. It will ask you for a reason, it’s common courtesy to tell them why you are leaving.

Q: Where do I level (class here) at (number) level?

A: Read my leveling guide, I get tired of repeating myself.

Q: How do I get to (such and such) dungeon?

A: Read my Map Access Guide.

Q: What does ks mean?

A: KS is kill stealing. This is more than just rude, it’s illegal on many servers. Some servers have the command @noks

Q: What is a bot? Is botting allowed?

A: Lazy players set up programs to run their character to hunt or do other tasks. Botting is illegal on most servers.

Q: Heal, Zeni, Items please?

A: No, get it yourself everyone else has to do it. Here’s a link to my Money Making Guide.

Q: I shared my equips with this random person and now I can’t find him, what do I do?

A: Don’t fall for scams. Don’t share stuff with people. If you do share with others you can try to screenshot the deal and chat, but it’s all up to the GMs of your server. Report the person, and if you don’t have a screenshot then you’re screwed.

Q: How do I auto-follow?

A: The character you wish to auto-follow with must have /nc turned off. If you turn it off you will have to start auto-follow twice. Hold shift and right click the person you wish to auto-follow, a small triangle will appear over their head and you will follow them. Remember if it doesn’t work: turn off /nc and click twice to autofollow.

Q: How do I stop lagging so much?

A: There are a few ways to reduce lag. Use the command /effect to turn on and off your effects. Use the command /aura to simplify auras. If these don’t work you can go into the RO Folder > Setup.exe. The Setup has options for sprite detail and texture. Turning these down will help reduce lag, but make the characters blotchy and ugly.

Q: The ground went white, can I fix it without relogging?

A: Yes, use the command /lightmap to fix it.

Q: What do these mean: B>, S>, T>, A>, N>, R>, AFK

A: Buy, Sell, Trade, Auction, Need, Recruiting, Away From Keyboard

Q: How do I create (such and such item)?

A: There is a specific skill you need based on class and specific items to use as ingredients. Follow the instructions in the RMS Creation Database.

Most Common Terms:

NPC: Non Player Characters, they open a pop up dialog box when you click on them with pre-set responses or set items they sell. You can also sell items to an NPC to make money. There are useless filler NPCs with no purpose, Quest NPCs which will open a dungeon or give you a needed item, Vending NPCs which buy and sell goods, informative NPCs, and basic game mechanic NPCs. The basic game mechanic NPCs are Healer, Town Warper, Dungeon Warper, Stylist, Class Change, Resetter, Platinum Skill NPC, etc.

Town Map: Maps that have Kafra and many other NPCs and no aggressive monsters. (Do I really have to define a town?)

Field Map: The World Map shows Field Maps only. To access a Dungeon, you must first travel through the correct field map in most cases (there are some short-cuts but it costs zeni).

Dungeon Map: This does not appear on the World Map. The entrances are accessed via Field Maps. Though usually “underground,” this is not always the case.

Drops: Items that the monsters “drop”. If your server does not have @autoloot 100 automatically set, the monster will drop your items on the ground. If you want to change the percentage of dropped items you keep to 50%, type the command @autoloot 50. I suggest keeping all your drops and then sell everything, except for: Equipment, Healing Items, and Cards.

Equipment: An item that can be worn by your character, found in the second tab of your inventory Alt E. Alt Q will bring up your “gear” or “equip” screen. Gear can be obtained by killing the right monster or buying from another Player or NPC.

Healing Items: An item in the first tab of inventory that can be consumed to heal hit points or spell points. Certain special “consumables” can increase a stat or give a skill your class might not have. For example, Authoritative Badges provide the Priest buff Increase Agility.

Card: An item in the third tab of inventory. It can be put on to a specific kind of equipment to enhance your skills, stats, or provide an additional bonus.

Epic Fail, Phail, FTL: For the Loss. Basically, “You suck” in internet lingo.

FTW: For the Win! Basically, “You rule” in internet lingo.

Powned, pwn3d, pwnd, pwnt: I believe this was derived from power and owned, it means, “You just got your butt kicked.”

Noob: A new player that many experienced gamers look down on. They will often make many mistakes at crucial moments and fail to listen to organized commands.

Pro: Power gamers who play their game with almost religious faith and on a daily basis. They will usually – but not always – have little to no real life social skills.

IRL, irl: In Real Life

Emp: The Emperium of the Castle must be defended or the castle will be taken by an enemy guild. It has only one real location in game despite that it takes up four spaces. Only cast safety wall on the top right space of the Emp. Sanctuary and Slim Potion Pitcher will heal the Emp.

Emp Room: The inner most room of the castle which contains the Emp. Usually the bulk of the defense is set up in this room.

Spawn Point: The spot next to a portal on the map where your character appears. You can abuse the spawn point if you know how.

Precast: The ledge or area furthest from the Spawn Point from which High Wizards and Creators can “cast” on enemies. The idea is to kill them as soon as they enter the room, on the spawn point.

AoE: Area of Effect, a skill that hits more than one square or target.

WoE: War of Emperium. A battle to hold a castle against enemies to obtain the treasures in the treasure room.

A) Taking a closer look at “Grim”

Grimtooth has a lot of unique features, especially for the Assassin class. On lv 5 Grim deals 200% Atk at 6 cells range, with a 3×3 splash effect. It is the only non-poison skill a Sin can deal splash damage with, until rebirth. Most important, besides the splash damage, is the fact that you have to hide to use it. While hidden, the enemies will not see you or attack you. Grimtooth carries your weapon’s element and any status of status arrows you equipped, once you finished the “Throw Venom Knife” quest. This means we can stun, curse or blind the mob we are attacking.

B) Stats/Skills

This is an easy part for Grimtoothers. Put Str, Agi and Dex, leave the rest at 1 (some people might want to add a little bit of Int, but if your server provides SP healing items, you won’t need it).

Enough Dex to hit: A total of 60-70 will be enough.

Enough Agi foor ASPD: An ASPD of 176-178 will b

e enough.

Enough Str to kill: All the remaining points should go here… Try to reach at least 100.

The Skills is even easier. Put 10 Skill points into hiding as a Thief, then as Assassin, get Grim to 5 as soon as possible.

C) How to mob and kill

Mobbing is a thing one needs a lot of practice for. Basically you run from aggressive monsters fast enough so they can’t hit you, but not too fast, so they still follow you. That way you gather a mob of monsters. Then you hide and use grimtooth to kill them. In images:

D) Tipps and Tricks

1. Use two Fortune Swords. They add a total of 41 lucky dodge to your flee. Lucky dodge is great, because it is not reduced by the number of enemies attacking you. Wear them while you gather the monsters and switch to the katar you use to kill when you’re hidden. The feature /q2 makes the Hotkeys F7 and F8 available on the mouse wheel down and up respectively. Putting the Katar on one and the Fortune swords on the other makes switching a matter of less than a second.
2. Stand a tiny bit before hiding. When you stand still for an instant before you hide, the monsters will be aggroed on the cell you hid on and come together right next to it. That way you’ll hit all the monsters with every grimtooth.
3. Get a Smokie, if your server has pet skills. A Smokie with its equip will allow you to hide from demons and insects, opening up a great range of new spots to go!

E) Equips

Important Equips are:

• A set of Elemental Katars (fire, earth, wind and water)
• Two Fortune Swords
• Fitting Jurs depending on the spot you level at

This being a short list shows, that the grimtooth assassin is not very gear dependant. Of course there are higher-level gears that will help a lot:

• Immune Garment
• Matyr Shoes (or other shoes that increase your hp)
• Evil Druid Armor / Bathory Armor

The last armors are required for soloing Nameless.

I want to thank HeRo server for giving me an awesome place to play Ragnarok, and to learn all these information!

The first thing you should do on any server is make 3 characters:

Hunting character – Hunter or Assassin (Sin is great because they get the skill Steal.)

Money character – Merchant (get the skills Vending, Overcharge, and Discount.)

Slave character – Priest (if you can run multiple clients at once, make sure to make this on a separate account.)

Use the hunting character to get the gear you need and hunt valuable items. Use the slave to buff the hunting character. Use the Merchant to overcharge all your drops, to buy potions at a discount, and to vend Cards.

The Following is a listing of ways to make money in RO. There are many ways, these are just 5 ways off the top of my head. They are listed from easiest to hardest.

1) Smokie Drops

Smokies drop: (based on a 1x server rate)

	Potato (8%)		Zircon (0.02%)		Raccoon Doll (0.02%)		Zargon (0.05%)		Animal Skin (55%)
	Raccoon Leaf (55%)		Kitty Band (0.01%)		Smokie Card (0.01%)

This is for low level money making. Use Fire element against Smokies. Keep the Kitty Bands and Smokie Cards, and Overcharge the rest of the drops with your Merchant. Kitty Band is used to make Bunny Band and Black Cat Ears. It can sell for a lot of zeni when vended. Smokie Card gives the skill Hide and can also sell for a lot when vended. Check the market before vending anything.

2) Witherless Roses

Witherless Roses drop at a fair rate. It takes some patience, but each rose is worth alot of money.

Wild Rose drops Witherless Roses at 0.5% on a 1x server. Use Earth arrows vs. Wild Rose. Sell the roses with Overcharge on your merchant.

Mavka drops Witherless Rose at 3% rate on a 1x server (only if your server has Moscovia Dungeon). Use Fire arrows vs. Mavka. Sell the roses with Overcharge on your merchant.

3) Juperos Drops

Venatu drop: (based on a 1x server rate)

Use Overcharge and sell all drops. Venatu cards are practically worthless, so you might as well sell those. The most efficient way to hunt them is to use an Assassin with Grimtooth. Gather a mob and then hide and Grimtooth away, make sure to have high flee and high strength.

4) Royal Jellies

Royal Jelly drops at a high rate. You can use Steal to increase the drop rates of the 100% drops.

Gonryun Dungeon is a great place to hunt Royal Jelly and the other drops there are worth good money also.

Hunt Enchanted Peach Trees, and Bloody Butterflies and then sell all the drops with overcharge on your merchant.

5) Leeching

To leech others, you will need to make a Stargladiator devoted to leeching characters at Thors. Stargladiators are great for PvM. See the Cuddly Stargladiator Guide to Thors (once it has been published) for the build, gear, and mechanics of leeching. Use your hunting character to get the appropriate gear, and then level your Stargladiator with the Leveling Guide (treat a Starglad like a Merchant or Swordsman for leveling purposes).

Introduction

After writing my leveling guide, someone asked how to get to the dungeon without a warp NPC. It seemed appropriate to make a separate guide as there are so many towns and dungeons in Ragnarok. I’ll update the last few towns with more information and include more NPC pictures for the dungeon access quests.

All of my guides are based off the information provided by ratemyserver.net.

When I’ve played on servers without a warper NPC, flywings (f-wings) and butterfly wings (b-wings) became my best friends. I recommend using these cheap items. Before making any treks, journeys, or other forays away from your home town, I suggest leveling on surrounding maps until you can survive. Certain maps have stronger monsters and I will give an aggro rating. Low levels should avoid strong maps.

Definitions and Terms:

Town Map: Maps that have Kafra and many other NPCs and no aggressive monsters. (Do I really have to define a town?)

Field Map: The World Map shows Field Maps only. To access a Dungeon, you must first travel through the correct field map in most cases (there are some short-cuts but it costs zeni).

Dungeon Map: This does not appear on the World Map. The entrances are accessed via Field Maps. Though usually “underground,” this is not always the case.

Drops: Items that the monsters “drop”. If your server does not have @autoloot 100 automatically set, the monster will drop your items on the ground. If you want to change the percentage of dropped items you keep to 50%, type the command @autoloot 50. I suggest keeping all your drops and then sell everything, except for: Equipment, Healing Items, and Cards.

Equipment: An item that can be worn by your character, found in the second tab of your inventory Alt E. Alt Q will bring up your “gear” or “equip” screen.

Healing Items: An item in the first tab of inventory that can be consumed to heal hit points or spell points. Certain special “consumables” can increase a stat or give a skill your class might not have. For example, Authoritative Badges provide the Priest buff Increase Agility.

Card: An item in the third tab of inventory. It can be put on to a specific kind of equipment to enhance your skills, stats, or provide an additional bonus.

*Note* To know what map you are on type: /where

*Note* I highly suggest making use of your kafra save points in towns. You don’t want to start all over again from scratch when traveling across the world map.

Town Access

To get to the right dungeon, first you must access the basic Towns. If you have a Town Warper, skip to the Dungeon Access section.

First we’ll break down each region of the map based on possible starting points. Usually starting points are class based. Some servers use a training ground, some customize their training grounds, and some have no training grounds. Since it’s possible to start in various towns, I’ll start with the most common.

Prontera

If this is your starting point, then you’re in luck. The surrounding maps have great monsters for low leveling.

Once you change class from novice, sell all your drops (save apples and herbs for free healing, and any equipment that you can wear) and buy flywings and a butterfly wing; just in case you run out of fwings in a sticky situation.

Izlude 600 zeni (I wouldn’t bother unless you’re very lazy, it’s one map away)

Your server should have a Cool Event Voting Staff. You can find him standing near a competing Kafra Voting Staff. The one that is “winning” in votes will provide direct warps to certain dungeons for a fee.

OR

If you are an acolyte your goal is to get to Amatsu Dungeon and later Glastheim Dungeon, use the following directions to Izlude and take a Boat to Alberta. Then follow this link to complete the Amatsu Dungeon Quest. Have Pneuma, and flywings or teleport the skill.

OR

You can make use of the Airships or Boats, if you have enough zeni. Head down/south of Prontera town (pront field 8, no aggressor rating). Then go right/east, to Izlude town.

Izlude

Izlude is a veritable trade route hub. The 2 outgoing Boat Routes are to Alberta and Byalan Dungeon. The Airship flies from Izlude to Yuno to Racheal, and repeats. If this is your starting point, you’re also in luck. The maps have easy leveling, but I’d recommend sticking to field maps until you change class from novice. Keep in mind that the Airship and Boat cost money, be sure to sell drops and save equipment you can wear.

Payon

Payon has no trade routes, but the surrounding maps are great leveling territory. First head south/down one map (payon field 1, no aggressors), or east/right one map (payon field 8, no aggressors) and kill porings to level. Once you have the idea, head north to Payon archer village. This map has no monsters the top west/left portal leads to Payon Dungeon.

Avoid payon field 7, morroc field 3, and payon field 11; there are medium to strong aggressors on those maps.

There is a safe route to Alberta, which is a harbor town with many boat routes. Once you are established in your first class sell your items for zeni to spend.

To get to Alberta head south/down two maps from Payon Town. On payon field 2 (the second map south obviously), go through the east/right portal. On payon field 3 go through right/east portal to get to Alberta.

Alberta

If you’re starting in Alberta, the map to the west/left will provide good leveling for novices. Not to sound like a broken record, but:

Alberta is a harbor city. There are also many Boat travel options here. All of which cost 10,000 zeni, I believe.

Amatsu Town can be accessed via the Sea Captain NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip.

Louyang Dungeon via the Girl NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, Louyang town is through the north warp. *Teleport to the Louyang town through the north portal and save at the kafra, before fighting anything.*

Turtle Island via the Turtle Island Scholar NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, bring potions there is no save. *Alberta is the only way to access this map unless you have a warper.

Sunken Ship via Fisk NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, some servers allow a kafra in Sunken Ship check yours before going into the dungeon. *Alberta is the only way to access this map unless you have a warper.

Izlude Town via Sailor, I believe he varies prices based on your level save at destination (feedback please).

Gonryun field via Kunlun Envoy NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip. (I don’t suggest this route unless you are 2nd Class at least; meaning a hunter, dancer, wizard.) Teleport to the portal in the center of the map (gonryun field, medium aggressive) to get to gonryun town.

Moscovia can be accessed talking to the Moscovia P R Officer for 10,000 zeni, but only if your server has Moscovia. If he’s not on the docks then the server doesn’t have the Moscovia episodes yet. There is a kafra to save.

Geffen

Geffen is the isolated Town of the Mage and Wizard guild. The North/Up, East/Right, and West/Left maps provide excellent leveling for novices. Once you have some of your 1st Class skills, there are Kafra Dungeon warps.

Prontera 1200 zeni

Al De Baran 1200 zeni

Orc Dungeon 1200 zeni

Mjolnir Dead Pit 1700 zeni

If you don’t want to pay, you can walk or teleport to Prontera Town with flywings. To get to Prontera from Geffen, walk East/Right 3 maps to Mjolnir Field 9. Head through the South/Down Portal. On Prontera field 5, use the East/Right Portal to get to Prontera Town. There are no aggressive monsters this route.

Morroc

Another of Rune Midgard’s isolated Towns; Morroc is a desert city home to the thieves. All the maps surrounding morroc have non aggressive monsters; except for Comodo field 8 (medium aggressors).

Once you are established in your first class, explore further east on the desert maps. When you can survive Desert Wolves, you can walk to Prontera, Payon, Izlude towns. Sell all your drops (save healing items and any equipment that you can wear) and buy flywings and a butterfly wing; just in case you run out of fwings in a sticky situation. Use the World Map to trace your own route to the town of your choice.

Al De Baran

I have never played on a server with Alde as a starting point, but better safe than sorry. To the north of Alde is a field map with Porings and no aggressive monsters. Once you’re bored of porings switch to poporings. Then try Pecos. If you get bored there is always Lutie which can be accessed via the Santa NPC in Alde.

You can use flywings to explore north or south. South warp leads to Mjolnir_12 which has the one of the entrances to Hidden Temple; however there are Stem Worms on this map which are aggressive. You can continue south from this map to get to Prontera Town through three maps: Mjolnir_fild05 (medium aggro), mjolnir_fild10 (strong aggro), prt_fild01 (no aggro). The journey isn’t very long, but there are some fast aggro monsters en-route.

North is a long and dangerous route to Yuno, with many aggressive monsters. The safest route is north one to yuno_fild01(no aggro), left/west one to yuno_fild09(medium aggro), left/west one map to yuno_fild08 (low aggro), up/north to yuno_fild02 (medium aggro), left/west two maps to yuno_fild03 (strong aggro-mini bosses) and to yuno_fild04 (medium aggro), then through the north map to get to Yuno Town.

Comodo

Home of the musical artists of Rune Midgard, Comodo is an unusual place to start the game. I might even say cruel. I shudder to imagine a poor little 1/1 novice trying to level starting out in Comodo, so I won’t even bother continuing this section.

The Northern Region of Rune Midgard:

The easiest way to get to the Northern region is to fly the Airship from Izlude to Yuno. This does cost zeni, keep it in mind. The Airship Guide can be found here. Use the World Map to trace your own route to the town of your choice.

Yuno

Yuno is the crossroads for Airship Routes.

Dungeon Access

Basic Dungeon Knowledge:

Most servers will not allow you to /memo (saves warp point on a priest character) inside a dungeon. However, you can memo the field map that leads to a dungeon, if there are no MVP or mini-bosses on that map. Some servers may allow memo of all field maps including maps with MVPs or mini-bosses and exclude dungeons only. The best way to be sure is to test it once. Priests and High Priests are convenient to have as a second character in a warper free server, because they can warp you much closer to your final destination. They also have unlimited teleports (as long as SP lasts).

I will give walking/teleporting directions to each dungeon. If you want a different starting location than the one I listed, stop being lazy and go look at the World Map. Most experienced players know to do this on their own.

Dungeon Ratings:

Very Easy: Low level beginners solo.

Easy: Low level with basic equips solo.

Moderate: Mid levels with basic equips solo.

Difficult: High levels with good equips and a group.

Master: High Levels with great equips and a group.

Abyss Lake Dungeon

Dangerous realm of the dragons. Only the swift and strong will survive.

First a Maze of shadows and trick walls to test your strength, endurance, and intellect. Next, a mysterious Underground Forest with action around every corner. Last is the Underground Shrine, beware the ancient guardian.

The easiest way to get to Amatsu is to use the round trip boat route from Alberta.

Ant Hell

Very Easy to Moderate

Level with the insects but beware the Queen of the insects and her grumpy sister too…

Ayothaya Ancient Shrine

Level with the Kitties, but flee the ghost-boy Kraben at low levels. Once you penetrate the ancient shrine, the Lady Tanee awaits with her minions.

Ayothaya field 1 has Smokies and 3 leaf cats for low levels.

Beach Dungeon

These “laboratory experiments” provide good experience, but you must be over level 60 to complete the quest. Most servers require quest completion to access the dungeon, follow this link. Non-transcended classes under level 95 (94 or lower) can’t get to bio labs level 3, transcended classes under level 90 (89 or lower) can’t get to bio labs level 3.

Byalan Island Dungeon

Easy to Moderate

Byalan to Dungeon, Byalan 0, Byalan 1, Byalan 2, Byalan 3, Byalan 4

Under the sea you can find some great aquatic monsters. Crabs, octopi, squid, fish, mermaids, mermen, and strange Strouf are abundant in this oceanic dungeon.

Clock Tower

Easy to Moderate

The Clock Tower is full of lots of neutral monsters. The Clocks on level 2 are a great way to farm Elunium.

Coal Mine / Mjolnir Dead Pit

Easy to Moderate

Dead Pit 1, Dead Pit 2, Dead Pit 3

The Coal Mines are filled with Tarou and Familiars. As you head deeper the Earthy Giearths and Undead Skeleton Workers start to appear. The deepest dungeon has poisonous Mysts and overwhelming numbers of undead, look out for the tough Cramps they are a real pain.

Dimensional Gorge

Once Morroc town has been destroyed the Dimensional Gorge will replace many maps in the eastern region. It is within the Dimensional Gorge that Satan Morroc will be found. You must complete the Continental Guard Quest to access the Dimensional Gorge.

Einbroch Mine Dungeon

Easy to Difficult

Einbroch 1, Einbroch 2

Strange Noxious and Venomous fumes dominate the first floor, as well as the undead Pitman and mutated Porcellio. The lowest dungeon contains animated stoves and the King of Animated objects, RSX 0806.

Einbech Town Upper Warp > Mines

Geffen Dungeon

Easy to Difficult

Geffen 0, Geffen 1, Geffen 2, Geffen 3

Hunter Flies and poisonous mushroom Spores dominate the first level. As you descend into the dungeon proper you will encounter Halloween oriented monsters. Beware Dracula on Geffen dungeon level 1, and the Doppelganger on Geffen dungeon level 2.

Geffen Town Center Portal > Head down to the basement of the wizard tower until you reach Geffen Dungeon

Geffenia

Difficult

Geffenia 1, Geffenia 2, Geffenia 3, Geffenia 4

In Geffenia nothing is what it appears. The angels aren’t really angels, and the Knights are abysmal. Trust nothing. The quest to enter this dungeon is not for the impatient or the faint of heart.

Geffenia requires completion of “The Sign” quest to access the dungeon. This quest is long, tedious, and has many steps. Follow this link to the guide that I use.

Glast Heim

1. The base .tga files of the original Asura image. (ripped from sdata.grf using a .grf editor. ex. Gryff’s)

How to do it:

STEP ONE
Rip all of the asura1~asura6.grf and asura11~asura16.grf images from your sdata/adata.grf using a grf editor.
– asura1~asura6 = the 6 chinese words/images shown when a monk casts asura
– asura11~asura16 = the 6 chinese words/images shown when a champ casts asura

STEP TWO
Open asura1.tga with your Adobe Photoshop and go to the channels tab beside the layers.
Click on the “Alpha 1″ channel.

STEP THREE
Using the Rectangle tool/Brushes, make the whole “Alpha 1″ channel black.

Now that the background is all black, you can now add in your designs/texts.

Add your own designs/texts to the black “Alpha 1″ channel.

To Create a guild, you have to type /guild (with the emperium in your inventory):

Important Note: You must kick all of your guild mates first, leaving only the leader (you) in the guild.

To leave from your guild:

You type ctrl+g to bring up the guild menu, look for the member list tab and then find your name in it. Right click your name and you should see the leave guild option. Choose it. This will erase all your ties with the guild, including any experience you generated to level up the guild.

Tips:

- Remember ctrl+g will bring up the guild menu. There you will see your guild mates, guild skills, territory etc. For guild leader, you can give/take certain guild features such as invite, kick, set tax level etc functions to members in the guild.

- To talk in guild chat, you can do it in 3 ways.

1. Choose ‘guild chat’ by clicking the lower right circle on your global chat and message box.
2. Start the sentence with the $ symbol. Example: “$ hi guildies!” without the qoutes.
3. Start the sentence with /gc. Example “/gc hi guildies!” without hte quotes.

- A list of guild skills can be found here. Only guild leader can use them and most (if not all) are limited to be used only during War of Emperium (WoE). To get guild skills, member of the guild have to devote part of their base experience point of up to 50% to level up the guild. The guild leader or any guild member with the permission can set the EXP devotion level (also know as ‘tax’) for each member. Usually guild leader is not recommended to put ‘tax’ on members’ EXP unless the member offered to help.

- For any guild that want to participate in War of Emperium (WoE), the guild must have the guild skill Approval (also know as Official Guild Approval). Without the skill, member in the guild will not be able to hit an emperium during WoE.

Introduction

Hi there. This document is not intended to replace any item databases and is far from being accurate. I will often refer to other databases such as RMS (ratemyserver.net), ROE (ROempire.com) and various other websites. If you are looking for the description of an item and what it does you would be better suited to going to those websites. If the description confuses you and you are uncertain as to what it does then come here and find out.

This document is by no means complete. There are quite a lot of items, skills and other things in the RO databases that have confusing or nonexistent descriptions. If I do not have an item, please feel free to notify me and I will include it in the next version.

Section 1: Items

A note about healing items: please PLEASE note that healing items of ALL sorts are effected by the user’s vit for hp items and int for sp items. The higher the vit/int the higher the amount is healed. This is ALSO effected by increased hp/sp regeneration. This means that someone with 120 vit will get a lot more benefit out of a white potion then a player with just 50 vit.

Also note that a great deal of the items here are labeled prior to second classes being included without having been changed yet. This leads to some inconsistencies between the amounts indicated and the amounts actually recovered by said items.

Royal Jelly: Highly nutritious jelly secreted by honeybees. Used to feed bee larva and future queen bees. Cures every abnormal status; Recovers 250 HP.

This item ALSO recovers approximately 50 to 150 sp on use, though it is not mentioned in the item’s description. All other facets appear to be acting as described. In addition to recovering 50 to 150 sp on use, it also cures ALL ailments that do not prevent item use. For example, silence, curse and poison.

Potato: A tuber that can be fried, baked, boiled, mashed, even eaten.
Recovers a small amount of HP.

Please note that this item also stuns by a small chance (approximately 1%).

Ice Cream: Deliciously frosty ice cream that can cause brain freeze if you eat too much too quickly. Recovers a suitable amount of HP.

Please note that this item also freezes by a small chance (approximately 1%).

Cursed Water: A bottle of cursed water.

When used this item acts like the reverse of the skill “aspersio” and grants the user an elemental endow for the same duration. The difference is that your element is dark. The effect can be canceled the same way as aspersio or any other endow (by unequipping your weapon, by dying, by being dispelled, etc.)

Poison bottle: A skeleton shaped bottle which contains deadly poison.

Created by the assassin cross skill “create deadly poison”. If used by an assassin cross it will endow the user with an attack speed boost higher then that of a berserk potion, but also poison them with a high calibre poison. Use by any other class (Including assassin) will cause instant death. It is also used in the assassin cross skill “Enchant Deadly Poison”

Amulet: A forbidden talisman that can reanimate the dead, resulting in a walking corpse or undead zombie.

Originally, this item was meant to randomly summon a zombie or weak undead monster similar to a dead branch anywhere from a measly skeleton or zombie to a zombie master or skeleton general. However, for reasons unknown, gravity stripped it of it’s code.

Concentration Potion: A potent medicine that stimulates concentration. Temporarily increases Attack Speed.
Awakening Potion: A special tonic that combats the effects of drowsiness. Temporarily increases Attack Speed.
Berserk Potion: Remarkably powerful medicine that stimulates circulation and amplifies quickness. Temporarily increases Attack Speed.

Keep in mind that these potions do NOT directly increase your aspd by any value. Instead they reduce the cooldown between attacks, which is calculated as follows: ASpd = [200 - SpeedMods * (WeaponDelay - ([WeaponDelay*Agi/25] + [WeaponDelay*Dex/100])/10)] Most servers have the maximum attack speed capped to 190 to 199. 200 attack speed is possible via GM power but causes 200 attacks per second rather then per minute. This value is rounded up to the nearest whole number (the slower aspd).

A note about set gear: For any set gear to be active, you must have EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT of the set equipped at the same time. This means that for all intensive purposes you shouldn’t be able to equip more then 2 gear sets and/or 1 card set at a time.

Padded Armor+Armor Charm Set: [+ Padded Armor] DEF + 5 Maximum HP + 150

This does NOT stack. While wearing two armor charms you only gain the effect of the second armor charm as if you were not wearing the full set.  You would, therefore, have one full set bonus from the padded/armor charm combo and then +1 further def and 50 further hp ONLY from the second charm.

Cramp Card + Tarou Card set: [+Tarou] Str + 3

This normally does NOT stack, HOWEVER, if you should wear two of EACH type of card, the bonus DOES stack as it counts each couple as a separate set. Yes, you can achieve the bonus if you have two slotted headgears on at once.

Owl Duke Card + Owl Baron Card

Please note that the descriptions for these cards are actually incorrect. Both effects activate when you ATTACK not when you get hit.

Dual Dagger Assassins and Assassin Crosses:

When using two weapons, the off hand weapon’s card effects and elements stack onto the main hand’s card effects and weapons. This means that if (for example) you have a Damascus[2] with no cards on main hand and a quad hydra main gauche in the off hand, then you will have the hydra bonus on your Damascus (main hand) damage, and the offhand will remain the same (low) value. Assassins and assassin crosses built like this are essentially assumed to be wearing a single weapon with extra slots in it. (thus the reason for there being multiple slot weapons in the offhand instead of high atk weapons)

Section 2: Skills

Pneuma: Creates a 3×3 cell cloud (although the animation only appears to cover the center cell!) around the target cell that blocks all ranged Physical attacks. This means that it also blocks the bow attacks of players, so take care not to prevent any Hunters or Bow Thieves in the party from being able to do damage! Monsters count as being “ranged” if their attack has a range of 4 or more cells. Pneuma cannot be cast if it is targeted to overlap an already existing Pneuma area or a Safety Wall cell. Does not block splash damage or negate the Flee reducing effects of having multiple targets attacking you. Do note that although you can see the animation on top of a Land Protector, Pneuma will have no effect.

It creates an area that is immune to all ranged physical attack. This includes any skill with the descriptor of “ranged physical”, any skill that has a physical attack but 2 or more cells of range or attacks from more then 2 cells of range. The skill blocks these instances regardless of the actual distance from the target, so a bow user is ALWAYS blocked by Pneuma even if the attacker goes into melee range and starts shooting at point blank. AoE skills and the like (even arrow shower) bypass this effect.

This skill does NOT block status effect armor or weapons from effecting either the target or attacker. A pneuma’d target with stone curse armor can STILL stone curse a ranged attacker and a ranged attacker with a stun weapon can still stun the player in Pneuma.

Note: knockback skills (even when ranged) will still knock you back, regardless of whether it hits or not, (e.g. charge arrow will do no damage but still push you back).

Pneuma does not have a limit to the number of hits, just a time limit.

Pneuma blocks instances of Safety wall inside it’s area of effect and cause the “skill has failed” message on the caster who was using Safety wall. It is impossible to cast pneuma anywhere that has a safety wall within a 3×3 area around it. You ALSO cannot cast two instances of Pneuma such that the two of them overlap.

Note that you can block pneuma with an instance of Magnus Excorscesmus from a priest.  A useful fact when defending a castle during WoE.

Pneuma will block any attack that has a range of 3 cells or longer.  This includes but is not limited to: Soul Breaker/Destroyer, Spiral Pierce (spears are 2 cell, spiral adds one cell), Asura Strike with a long mace (3 cells exactly), Final Strike

Phew that was a long one, sorry.

Finger Offensive: Throws Spirit Spheres at enemy. Skill level affects number of spheres that can be thrown, damage is 125%+25*used SkillLV% ATK using the element of your current weapon. Number of thrown Spirits equals to used SkillLV and may miss depending on normal hit probabilities. It has uninterruptible cast but Pneuma will block this skill.

This description fails to mention that the damage dealt is 125%+25*skillLV% PER SPHERE THROWN. So lvl 5 Finger Offensive will actually deal 1250% damage (250% * 5 spheres).

Occult Impaction: Strong ranged Physical attack. The more defense the target has the more damage this skill will do. It never misses and uses up 1 Spirit Sphere. Damage is [ATK x (1 + SkillLV*0.75) x (Enemy Armor+Enemy VIT)/50] x Card Effect. Uses up one Spirit Sphere.

THIS SKILL IS NOT RANGED PHYSICAL! It is melee with a 2 cell cast range. It is also effected by vit and def, though the description does not adequately explain how. This skill is FORCED NEUTRAL, meaning it is ALWAYS neutral, regardless of your weapon element.

Asura Strike: Usable only when Fury is active. Uses all SP to do massive damage to the target, HP/SP will not regenerate naturally for 5 minutes after Asura Strike is used. Cancels Fury after use and requires all remaining Spirit Spheres (that is all 5 if cast independently). Damage is [(Weapon ATK+Base ATK) x (8 + SP/10) + 250 + (SkillLV*150)]*Card Effects. Can be used while catching someone using LV 5 Blade Stop or with no Cast Time at the end of a combo attack (Raging Trifecta Blow -> Raging Quadruple Blow -> Raging Thrust -> [Tiger Knuckle Fist and/or Chain Crush Combo ->] Asura Strike) but the Fury and sphere requirements remain in both cases (usable with the 4 spheres remaining after activating Blade Stop/Raging Thrust). Increasing the Asura Strike skill level has a relatively small effect on total damage compared to increasing SP, INT or STR.
Warning: Skill CAN BE INTERRUPTED.

Very long winded. Simply put each 10sp = +100% atk. The +1000 atk is added AFTER the multiplication. This skill is also forced Neutral.

*ahem* none of these descriptions mentions an upper limit to the number of traps you can plant. The upper limit is approximately 30 for ankle snare (verified) and assumed to be the same for all other traps (untested).

When used in certain places traps do not show up, yet work just the same. Rothenburg castle’s emperium chamber is one such example.

All the descriptions state that any hide revealing skill will reveal the traps. Only detecting seems to work on the eAthena code.

Water Ball:

Hits the target up to LV*LV-1 times with a Water elemental attack (100+30*SkillLV% MATK). You must stand on water or on a Deluge (Sage skill) cell to successfully use this spell. The damage for each hit is calculated individually and the damage numbers do not show as adding up, also casting Lex Aeterna (Priest Skill) on the target will only affect the first hit. This is the strongest single target spell in-game. The number of water balls that you are actually able cast also depends on the amount of water you are standing in. In any given X by X grid, the game determines that you are surrounded by (X*X)-1 cells. So, at level 4/5 Waterball, you can cast up to (5*5)-1, or 24 water balls. However, if you’re only standing in a 3×3 pool, you will only cast 8 water balls. If you’re standing in a freaky grid (like a partially-used Deluge), the number of balls cast is equal to the number of water-occupied cells in your grid.

Waterball higher then level 5 was previously able to be learned by rogues and stalkers by baiting Ktullanax (the MVP in Ice Dungeon 3), however a recent SVN change removed this.  Each hit from water ball is calculated for damage SEPERATELY.  This means that for the purposes of Lex Aeturna, only the first hit of water ball would be doubled.  Alternately, this leads to some odd damage calculations.

Note that monsters can use water ball without any water.  Note that both Deluge (sage) and Water Escape Technique (ninja) can be used for Water Ball.  Note that Water Escape Technique does NOT vanish when used for Water Ball in WoE only.

Magnetic Earth/Land Protector:

Shields an area from all area spells. Any skills that target the ground do not deal damage or do their effect. Skills such as Storm Gust, Hammer Fall, Fire Wall, etc. will do nothing. Also removes any area spells already placed in the area. Requires 1 Yellow Gemstone and 1 Blue Gemstone to use.

Please keep in mind that offensive skills like Hammerfall, Storm Gust, etc. will still show their animation, they just won’t have any effect.  Any skills that overlap the edges of Land Protector will effect anyone that so much as sticks a toe outside the border of it’s range.  For obvious reasons this skill also removes land based skills like Deluge or Water Escape Technique.

Soul Breaker:

Attack that causes severe damage, because the target is required to have high DEF to be able to withstand this. Damage calculation is a little complicated:
Final Damage = Soul Breaker Base Damage / Enemy DEF + Soul Breaker Base Damage
This formula may not be totally accurate.
The Element of the attack corresponds to your normal attack element.

This is a somewhat complicated skill to explain. The damage from Soul breaker is calculated in two parts. An Int part: (INT*5*SkillLv + Random(500~1000)), and an atk portion: ((ATK*SkillLv)*(100-Enemy DEF) – Enemy VIT) (Elemental Modifier).

PLEASE NOTE: that the int portion is:
1) unmissable
2) unmodified by weapon element
3) of a unique element (for skills): “non-elemental” which is NOT neutral and therefore not reduced by ghostring, but IS reduced by raydric and Vali’s Manteau due to the way they are coded.
4) modified by your INT not your MATK (and therefore bypasses mdef)
5) NOT modified in ANY way by +% cards (like hydra or skeleton worker)
6) not effected by masquerade item

PLEASE NOTE: that the atk portion is:
1) MISSABLE, you CAN miss this portion.
2) modified by weapon element
3) is effected by your target’s def and flee.
4) NOT modified in ANY way by +% cards (like hydra or skeleton worker) but IS modified by +atk cards (like andre or zipper bear)
5) applies the def bypass or reversing effects of whatever weapon you have equipped (like ice pick)
6) not effected by masquerade item

This skill is exceedingly picky and most databases do not have a 100% accurate explanation of this skill. I dug up most of this information on various forums and from iroWiki.org which seems to be the most accurate in this case.

While the skill never misses due to the unmissable feature on the magical portion of the damage, soul breaker still does a widely varied damage due to the physical portion which CAN miss.  When the physical portion misses the magical portion is the only part that deals damage and it appears that soul breaker has done half damage.

Linker Spirit Skills:

SUPER NOVICE
– Super Novices above LV 90 will be temporarily able to equip ALL Upper/Middle/Lower headgears.
– Super Novices above LV 90 have 1% chance to ‘erase’ the death record – which means, the last 1% EXP loss will be recovered and one death will be removed from your record.
– Super Novices above LV 96 will be temporarily able to equip all LV 4 Daggers, 1H Swords, Axes, Maces, and Staffs.
(all “temporary” mentions here are NOT removed when the link wears off. Death record erasure does indeed work with eAthena code, however it is uncertain as to what SVN this started at) Just a note: when a supernovice reaches max job lvl without dying once, they receive a +10 to all stats bonus that lasts until they next die. This can be re-gained via the death record recovery.

KNIGHT
Allows those who have Two-Hand Quicken LV 10 to use One-Hand Quicken for the skill’s duration.

One Hand Quicken: Decreases weapon swing delay with one-handed swords by 30%. Cancels the effect of any ASPD Potion when used, however you may use any such potion AFTER casting. This skill only works with One-Hand Sword class weapons and the effect cancels when switching to any other type.

CRUSADER
Makes their Shield Boomerang never miss, do double the damage, and halving its after cast delay.

WIZARD
Allows them to cast all Gemstone requiring Skills without using them up (however, it still requires the Wizard to have at least one of the respective Gemstone) for the skill’s duration. When the Wizard has a “Crystal Fragment” while under this skill’s effect, the item will be used, and any spells that were reflected back to you via Kaite or card effects will simply disappear instead of hitting you.

SAGE
Allows their Auto Spell Skill to always produce LV 10 Bolts if the Sage has learned that much in the Bolt Skill.

HUNTER
– If Double Strafing is LV 10, a new skill, Beast Strafing, will be available.
– Effectiveness of Beast Bane is increased by Hunters/Snipers STR.

Beast Strafing: If the target is a Beast-type and you used Double Strafing, you can use this skill to do extra Double Strafing on the target. Only usable right after using Double Strafing, and its power is heavily affected by STR.

(i.e. use Double Strafe then follow it immediately with beast strafing as if you were using a combo skill from a monk. The damage for beast strafing is higher with str rather then dex so that means full dex but no str would make beast strafing do comparatively low damage. Also, it only works on beast types, making it useless for at least 75% of the game as there aren’t that many beast types out there)

BARD AND DANCER
– All singing/dancing skills affect the Bard/Dancer him/herself.
– While singing/dancing the walking speed is increased.
– A Whistle and Humming linked.
– Assassin Cross of Sunset and Please Don’t Forget Me linked.
– A Poem of Bragi and Fortune’s Kiss linked.
– The Apple of Idun and Service for You linked.

Linked means, if X skill is mastered, then Y skill can be used too while in “Spirit” mode.

(you don’t need lvl 10 on each dance/song to learn the linked version, you will just be limited to the level of the linked song on the new song. I.E. lvl 7 bragi will grant lvl 7 fortune’s kiss and vice versa)

BLACKSMITH
Allows them to use Full Adrenaline Rush if they have Adrenaline Rush LV5 for the skill’s duration.

Full Adrenaline Rush: Decreases character’s attack delay with all weapons by 30%. Decrease nearby party members attack delay with all weapons except ranged by 20%. These two effects are supposed to stack with each other when used by more than one Smith in a party. Does not stack with other skills that directly increase ASPD.

(Full Adrenaline Rush does not stack with Adrenaline Rush or any other aspd boosting skill, such as a quicken, but does stack with aspd potions. By default Full Adrenaline Rush does not effect bare fist or fist type weapons, bow type weapons or rod type weapons)

The Full Adrenaline Rush buff icon DOES stack with the Adrenaline Rush Icon but does NOT stack.  Adrenaline rush (in this instance) has no effect.

ALCHEMIST
– Increases effectiveness of Potion Pitcher by Soul Linker’s BaseLV% (if the Soul Linker is BaseLV 68, Potion Pitcher heals +68%.
– Allows usage of Berserk Pitcher skill. (gives berserk potion effect on targeted party member at the cost of 2 berserk potions. Must meet level requirement)
– Alchemists having Pharmacy LV 10 are allowed to use Twilight Alchemy I.
– If there is a Super Novice in the party the Alchemist is further allowed to use Twilight Alchemy II.
– If there is a Taekwon in the party the Alchemist is further allowed to use Twilight Alchemy III.
– alchemist in question will still be able to SEE said skills but will not be able to use them

Twilight Alchemy I: Make 200 attempts to create a White Potion every 0.005 seconds. This skill has the same success rate as the Pharmacy skill. If there are not enough ingredients to create all 200 at once, the skill will fail. Check the Potion Creation Guide for the necessary ingredients.

Twilight Alchemy II: Make 200 attempts to create a Condensed White Potion every 0.005 seconds. This skill has the same success rate as the Pharmacy skill. If there are not enough ingredients to create all 200 at once, the skill will fail. Check the Condensed Potion Creation Guide for the necessary ingredients.

Twilight Alchemy III: Creates 100 Alcohol, 50 Acid Bottle and 50 Bottle Grenade. Each cast requires 50 Fabric, 50 Empty Bottle and enough materials to craft the produced items. If there are not enough ingredients to create them all at once, the skill will fail. Check the Alcohol Creation Guide, Acid Bottle Creation Guide and Bottle Grenade Creation Guide for the necessary ingredients.

Note that the required party members MUST be online AND present on the same map for the skill to work.

ASSASSIN
Boosts their Sonic Blow by doubling its damage and halving the Cool Down for the skill’s duration. However, the bonuses are reduced to +25% bonus damage and no Cool Down bonus when in Siege Mode (WoE)

ROGUE
– Dispell no longer removes your buffs.
– Potions created by someone who is high on the alchemist rank have their effect increased.
– STR bonus from Tunnel Drive will last 5 minutes and walking speed will also increase.

PRIEST
Boosts the power of Holy Light by +400% but also increasing its SP Cost by +400% for the skill’s duration.

(5x damage for 5x cost)

MONK
– The Raging Thrust attack becomes a 5×5 cell splash attack.
– SP Cost of combo skills is decreased.
– Allow SP regeneration in Fury state.

(thrust splash is actually 3×3, sp of combo skills do not get reduced on unmodified eAthena source code)

SOUL LINKER
Allows them to use “Ka- Type” skills on any other class, for the skill’s duration.

(it is NOT possible to link yourself)

Note that you can use Ka- type skills on your husband/wife without a link.

STAR GLADIATOR
Allows the usage of the “Union of the Sun, Moon and Stars” skill.

Union of the Sun, Moon and Stars: Your movement speed is increased and all your attacks never miss and ignore DEF, but you loose 2% of your HP every time you attack a monster and 8% HP every time you attack a player, also if you attack a player when you only have 20% HP left, you will be killed instantly afterwards.

(union effects not verified. Unmissable, ignoring def and hp loss have not been verified. You do, however lose hp on striking. The percents lost were not verified)

Note that One Hand Quicken and Full Adrenaline Rush do not fade when the link does and persist until the end of their duration.

Phew, that one was also a long one.

Section 3: Other

PVP. For all intensive purposes, any player character is assumed to be (by default) demi-human, medium, neutral creatures. Thus, any card that effects demi-human, medium or neutral creatures will effect a player. The only exceptions to this rule is baby characters which count as demi-human, small, neutral creatures on some servers and (if it’s activated this way) anyone on a peco who count as demi-human, large, neutral creatures on some servers. This is a setting that can be modified in the server conf files.

Beret/Feather Beret/PooPoo hat:
10% reduction from demi-human, that means ALL damage, be it magical, physical or whatever else there is. If it comes from a player, this reduces it.

Card Damage effects:

Cards of the same type will increase damage additively. For example, if you have two hydra cards (+20% vs demi-human) you will do 140% of your atk on a demi-human. Different cards increase damage multiplicatively. For Example, if you have a hydra card (20% vs demi-human) and a skeleton worker card (15% vs medium and +5 atk) you will do 120% * 115% +5 atk on the player or 138%+5 atk (+38% from the two cards and the +5 from the skeleton worker).  Therefore, mixing cards makes for better overall damage boost.

Order of defense calculations:

So far as I know, defense calculations for physical attacks are as follows: Element Type->Def->Racial Resists -> elemental resists ->Vit Def.

And Magical attacks are calculated by: Element Type->Mdef->Racial resists-> Elemental resists-> int mdef.

Defense types:

Hard def/mdef. The first number in your stat window (alt-a) after def. This is hard def and mdef. They reduce damage taken from physical and magical attacks respectively by that number PERCENT. So if you have 20 hard def you reduce 20% of the physical damage you take. This is calculated on a per hit basis, so multiple hit attacks can act a little funny for these calculations. Please be aware that skills or items that “pierce”, “ignore”, or “reverse” def disregard this number somewhat.

Vit Def and Int mdef. The +## after your hard def and mdef? Those are vit def and int mdef and are sometimes known as soft def and mdef. After hard def and mdef are calculated the damage you take is further reduced by these numbers. Unlike hard def and mdef these numbers are a FLAT RATE reduction and are tied directly to your total vit and int. for EACH HIT you will take <base vit + vit bonus> less physical damage and <base int + int bonus> less magical damage.  Again, this is calculated on a per-hit basis.

Resists:

Racial resists resist all damage regardless of element, or type from one particular race. For example, a thara frog card will resist 30% from demi-human, that means, whenever a demi-human or player tries to hurt you, you take 30% LESS damage.

Elemental Resists:

Similar to race but this time restricted to element. You take that percent less damage from the specified element (Raydric card, for example will reduce neutral damage)

Card Proc Effects:

As a number of you are aware of, there are a number of cards that proc effects at a certain chance per normal attack. These effects DO stack, HOWEVER there’s a catch. The card effects don’t add to each other due to a quirk in the way the effects are calculated.

Take the metaling card for example. It provides a weapon with a 5% chance of casting lvl 1 strip weapon on the target per attack. Two should theoretically provide a 10% chance, right? Not so. It’s actually 5% * 2 chances, which while it looks the same, it’s not. It’s two separate chances to proc the effect rather then adding together to make one bigger chance.

Therefore, 2 metalling cards is not a 10% chance but rather, a 5% +5% – the chances of both cards proccing at once. The RNG doesn’t take into account the effect of two proc cards hitting at the same time, and therefore counts as if only one had procced. Meaning, there is a lower then 10% success rate for two metalling cards.

I’m sorry that this isn’t very clear so I will use some math and numbers to make it easier to understand.

Say you attack 100 times. That means strip weapon would proc on average 5 times. If you had 2 metaling cards, and attacked 100 times, you would get 5 procs + 5 procs – times when both procced. In all reality, approximately:
10/100 – (5/100*5/100)
= 0.1 – 0.0025
= 9.75 times in 100 strikes
= 9.75% chance

The chances further deteriorate with more cards. 3 cards procs at:

15/100 – [(5/100*5/100)*2] – (5/100*5/100*5/100)
= 0.15-(0.005+0.000125)
= 14.4875 times in 100 strikes
= 14.4875% of the time

The multiplied function is because there are now two sets of pairs that can proc together, the one function with three is because there is now a set of 3 cards that can proc all at once and must be disregarded for duplicating previous results.

Four cards is even worse, at:
20/100 – (5/100*5/100)*6 – (5/100*5/100*5/100)*4 –
(5/100*5/100*5/100*5/100)
= 0.20 – (0.015 + 0.0005 + 0.00000625 )
= 18.449375 times in 100 strikes
= 18.449375% chance

There are now 6 different pairs that must be disregarded, but even worse there are now 4 sets of three that must ALSO be disregarded and to top it all off there is now a set of 4 (all four proccing simultaneously) that must be further disregarded.

While each additional card, DOES improve the chances of the effect proccing, it does NOT add to the percent statically. It does not, however, make enough difference to change the simple statement “more is better”.

Equip Swapping:

this applies mostly to gear that provide uninteruptable cast but longer cast times. Gears like Phen carded items or orlean’s uniform or the like but can also apply to other gear depending on the situation.

To equip swap means to change your current equipment mid cast or mid battle, allowing you to keep some benefits while bypassing some penalties. This can also be done for weapons and such for various effects.

First, the system of how the game applies this. When you swap an item for another with a hotkey, it will automatically replace the hotkey with the next item of the SAME TYPE. So for example, if you have all 4 elemental damascus and use a hotkey, pressing the hotkey will take off your current one, put on the one on your hotkey and swap the hotkey to the NEXT damascus in your inventory. Top to bottom, left to right.

Second, using hotkeys or double clicks will only ever replace the acc in your left slot and will never effect your right slot unless you manually remove it first. This rule also applies to left hand equipment for Dual Dagger Assassins and assassin crosses.

Now, here’s an interesting little tidbit. Gears like phen and orlean’s can take effect after a skill has begun it’s cast. Example. My wizard casts Storm Gust but has horrendous dex and therefore casts it really slowly lets say it takes 10 seconds to cast. I can put on a phen or an orleans but that expands the casting time significantly. However, I can swap equipments WHILE CASTING, to maintain my 10 second cast time and still gaining uninteruptable casting as long as I can switch before I get hit.

The reason this works, is because phen and orlean’s only effect the cast times of spells and skills started AFTER it has been equipped but provides the uninterruptible portion immediately. I can cast fast, AND not be interrupted if some stray shot nails me while I am casting.

This is just one example of how equip switching works, and I certainly don’t claim to be an expert at doing it (frankly I have trouble with 2 or more items), but I’m sure you would have an excellent time if you practice with it a bit.

Joker:

A note about the monster “joker” Normally they aren’t very common but they are around. They have a skill called “Element Change” which allows them to randomly change their base element. So while all the various database sites with all the information on the monster state that Joker is a neutral elemental character, he could well be any other element. This generally happens when he is being attacked. He will cast a spell that is uninteruptable and then show the fist or “v” emote, indicating that his element has changed. Be wary, his element is 100% random so you might find yourself suddenly facing a ghost element Joker.

Conclusion

Well that’s my compendium. It’s short compared to the item and skill databases isn’t it? That’s because it’s not a database. Yep, you heard me, I’m not going to go over all ten thousand items in the database here to clarify what they all mean.

Please note that I am NOT 100% certain of every minor bug so if something here doesn’t gel with a server’s custom modifications, well, I’m not responsible.

Also, I have verified everything here that I could except what has been flagged with “unverified” or “untested”. Therefore, please don’t post anything shouting at me for such flagged information being incorrect, I tested this quite laboriously in my free time.

Auction House Introduction

There are 4 Auction Hall Guide NPCs in Rune-Midgard that provide warps to the Auction House. They are located at Prontera (217, 120), Juno (130, 116), Lighthalzen (206, 169) and Morroc (183,94). These all tie in together to the same auction system; if you list an item in Juno, people can see and bid on it in Prontera, etc. To enter the Auction House, talk to your nearest Auction Hall Guide and tell them “Yes”.

You will then be taken to the Auction House. Walk forward, and you may speak to any of the Auction Broker NPCs there to access the auctions. This screen will appear:

A – This column pictures all the items on auction in the current list.
B – This is the name of the item.
C – This is the current bid on the item. If no one has bid, this is the minimum bid the seller will accept.
D – This is the price you can pay to buy the item outright, ending the auction.
E – This is the name of the person selling the item.
F – In this column is listed the name of the person who has the winning bid to date.
G – This is the time and date the auction ends. The format is MM/DD/HH with HH = to the hour the auction will end in military format in Eastern Standard Time. 20 = 20:00 = 8pm EST. (For those not used to figuring military time, if the number is under 12, it’s that hour in the morning. If it’s over 12, subtract 12 and that’s the hour in the afternoon. 13:00 = 13-12 = 1pm.)
H – These are the ways you can sort the list.
I – This button takes you to the main list screen (pictured here).
J – This button takes you to the screen where you can register an auction.
K – This button takes you to the list where you can see all the items you have for sale at the auction.
L – This button takes you to the list where you can see all the items you’re currently the high bidder for.
M – Click this to search the list by name.
N – Click this to search the list by Bid Number (I’m don’t know how that part works yet.)
O – This is the field where you enter your search parameters.
P – This is the button you click initiate the search.

It is important to note that the time the auction ends only tells you the hour in which it will end and not the minute. 20 means that the auction listed will end between 8pm and 9pm EST sometime.

Registering an Auction

Clicking the Register button takes you to the screen where you can list an item to sell. Drag your item into the pink circle on the left.

Select the number for the current bid price, delete it and enter the amount you wish to have set for a minimum bid*. Do the same for the direct purchase price.
*kRO has a default minimum of 10 million zeny to list an item. Not all servers have this restriction.

Then just enter the time – in hours – that you want the auction to run, up to a maximum of 72 hours.

There is a 12,000 zeny per hour fee to list an item – it will do the math for you automatically. You can list a maximum of 5 items per alternate character, or up to 45 items per account. When you’re done, click the register button (lower right) – and your item is listed!

You can then click the Sell Button at the bottom and see your item.

When the auction is over, if you sold the item it will mail you the cash but will not tell you what item sold. If no one buys it, it will mail the item back to you.

To Bid at the Auction

First, find an item you want to bid on. To search for particular item, click on the field on the bottom-right and enter the name/partial name of the item you’re searching for. Capitalization and spacing count. Then just click the little magnifier.

When you find an item you want to bid on, right-click on the name. It will give you the option to Place Bid or Buy Now. Select one, but be careful – clicking Buy Now is irrevocable and will immediately remove the cash from your character.

Click Place Bid and a screen will show up which will allow you to bid on the item. Click on the white space to the right of “Current Bid” and a cursor will show up, allowing you to enter a bid. Then just click ok!

The system will take the money from you and hold it in “escrow” until you either win or lose the bid. If you lose the bid, it will mail the money back to you with a message that you lost but will not tell you what auction you lost. If you win, it will mail the item to you.
