1) Know your rates. What does it mean? Well it means that before you start your own server you must know how many experience rate, drop rates and max level that a server you wanted to create. Because this will give you the general classification of your server. For example when you create a High Rate server, players will expect that when they join to your server they will no longer grind for so long to reach the Highest Level. Take note that you need to balance everything that will not ruin you server.

2) Balance your Server. This is one of the most important task that a server owner should do. Because this will dictate the gameplay of your server. For example, if you created a custom item that has Demi-Human damage reduction, you must first consider. “Is it too high?. Will a player with high Vitality become invincible?” those things should be always considered, why? Because with over powered stats, your player will always react that it was too imbalance.

3) Donator vs Non-Donator. Since the beginning of Private Servers, donators and non-donators always bragged each other whether they can only kill you if you donated to your server. Now those are normal at first, but be sure that for the long course, donators are not always there. So it is best that you create some events that Donators and Non-Donators will be able to play all at once without noticing any imbalances. A good example is a PvP Tournament where no donation items are  available.

4) BACK UP! This is the most important task that a server owner should do. Why? Alright I will give you a situation where back up is a must. Once upon a time, a Server Owner creates his very first Ragnarok Private Server, at first everything went fine, players loves your server your features are good and most importantly you don’t have imbalance items. But one day a disaster happens, your Server’s database went down with no reason, and all of your database been corrupted. And you don’t have any backups. The 1 million question is “What would you  do now?”,  if you don’t back up your server your answer will be “Oh well I should install a fresh new database” what will be the reaction of your loyal players? “!@#%!@#%^!@%# my items where gone! I will hunt all over again? My precious time was wasted all of a sudden??!! I HATE YOU <insert your server name here>” but if you managed to back-up your server frequently, your answer will be “Oh well I will just restore my recent back up” and ofcourse your player will respond “What happened? Anyway I will just continue playing, it seems that all my items are still intact”. You see how crucial back-ups are? In short “NO BACKUP” means ZERO LOYAL PLAYERS.

That’s it! I hope I gave you some useful tips before you create your own Ragnarok Private Server. Oh if you are wondering if I am a server owner too? Well the answer is YES! I am hosting a Mid Rate server, I just share it to you guys on what are my experience running my own server.

i. Introduction

Hello World ! You can call me Lotus, and this is a general guide to understand what’s bot and why people like botting. This guide is not made to annoy, intrude or upset any specific RO private server prohibiting bot activities, but merely to understand the botting portion of RO and the community supporting it.

ii. Brief History of RO Bots

Some time after introduction of international RO beta, many local beta official servers sprouted around developed countries sparking a new generation of MMORPG popularity. Since then, many types of bots were introduced by programmers who themselves play or just for the fun of it. Bots such as Revemu and Solos Kore were the early bots reigning through RO servers prior and sometime after Turtle Island Patch. As times passes, many old bots failed to keep up itself with Comodo Patch and newer bots evolved from Solos Kore. Currently the most popular bot program is OpenKore.

Early bots consists of functioning primarily on walking to grinding map randomly, attacking, looting and storaging/selling with NPCs. Bots today, enables chat room and custom deal selling, short repetitive quests, party bot with support, PvP support, and other miscellaneous supports.

iii. Who and Why Bot ?

A common question among non-botters and new RO players, Why bot? If you’re not going to play whats the point of botting? People mostly bot because they have and want to enjoy quality rather grinding 24/7 but also want they fix on RO. It is normal to know there are players hand grinding almost 24/7 and being competitive toward non-active players. Botting in this sense allows users to play the boring and time consuming of meaningless repetitive grinding. Botting, in some sense can balance out server economic depending on individuals perspective. Manual players are able to grind at unique and non-repetitive gaming aspect such as MvPing, medium/hard quests, WoE and other aspects of game activities which can’t be or poorly imitated by bots. Another small group of botters consists of program developers who seeks sense of achievement by being able to develop and run bots effectively. They earn pride by being able to extend bot functions and ability and seek little fun within the game itself.

iv. Botting = Hacking ?

Botting and Hacking are commonly closely associated, but the two are very much in different.

Hacking involves in directly accessing RO Server illegally either to sabotage or to create virtual benefits of the hacker by altering game databases or their network system. A typical hacker might just simply intrude RO Server database server and create a character and inputting zenny amount or items of their choice to the characters. Hacking allows users to gain unlimited virtual benefits within hours without actually participating ingame.

Botting, on the other hand, requires a game character to be created to be automated. Botted characters appear ingame and participates with the server population while it is developing. Items looted from botted character can be traded and mutually benefited from non-botting or botting players. Unlike hacking, botted characters had to grind and be existent ingame to gain virtual benefits in accordance to the time frame. As such, botting is very much different from hacking.

v. Botting is illegal ?

No, not entirely.
Generally most official RO Server and RO Private Server prohibits botting and they are classified as “third party programs” of server rules which probably comes with account/IP ban punishment.

However, not all RO Servers prohibits bot. A typical server’s warning on using bot:

The above example shows anti-bot warning targeted specifically to their P2P(Pay-to-Play) version of Official RO Server. This rules is not enforced to their F2P (Free-to-Play) version, which anticipates high number of botters who might be interested on their premiun i-mall virtual items to boost gaming experience. Such servers allows bot in a form of “implied” terms. Such servers does not state “bot allowed” or “bot welcomed” statements, but merely does not mention prohibition of “third party programs” in their rules.

Some servers do mention prohibitions of botting, but they   either take less initiative on catching bots or totally ignore bots due to understanding of importance of bots role in game economy contribution and server population impression. Such servers may emphasize on catching bot aggressively later on when the server reaches maturity stage with over-population and/or receiving increasing complaints from legitimate players.

Lately, new generation of RO Private Servers promotes bot-able servers. This group of private servers does not prohibit botting although they encourage manual game participation. However, they still uphold some sort of ethic guidelines such as prohibition of KS bots, WoE bots and other abnormal activities related to botting which can ruin game balance and experience. Such prohibitions are customized according to server owners.

Figuring Out the Average Cost of Getting a Risky Armor Refinement Level

For those who don’t want to figure out the math of figuring out the cost of upgrading to a certain refinement level (starting from refinement level 0), I decided to post it up for everyone’s benefit.

Refinement level : Average # of Items needed = Average # of Items needed : # of Elunium needed
+5 : 5/3 = 1.67 : 8.33
+6 : 25/6 = 4.17 : 23.33
+7 : 125/12 = 10.42 : 60.83
+8 : 625/12 = 52.08 : 309.17
+9 : 3,125/12 = 260.42 : 1,550.83
+10 : 15,625/6 = 2,064.17 : 15,518.33

Flip the fraction around and you have your chance of success upgrading from +4 to that level.

Here’s the formulas in simple terms:

Variables Defined:
Cost of Single Item = I
Cost of Single Elunium (including refining costs)= E

Cost = 5/3[I + E(5)]

Cost = 25/6[I + E(5.6)]

Cost = 125/12[I + E(5.84)]

Example:
You know those +10 Tidal Boots you’ve always wanted? Well if Tidal Boots are 650,000 zeny and Elunium is 40,000 then the plug in is this:
Cost = 15,625/6[650,000 + 40,000(5.95904)]
so
Cost = 2,313,441,667 zeny
Ouch! Over 2 billion zeny for +10 Tidal Boots. Even if you hunt the boots and elunium yourself and break those instead, you’re still losing money when you break them since you could have sold the boots (opportunity costs).

And that’s pretty much it. On a side note, Level 4 weapons also follow the same formula without a Whitesmith. Since I’m too lazy to post up the formula of level 4 weapons for a job level 70 Whitesmith, I’ll just give the number of weapons needed for a +10 of different levels.

317.46 weapons are needed on average for a job level 70 Whitesmith to make a +10 level 4 weapon in comparison to 2,064.17 by yourself.
88.18 weapons for a +10 level 3 weapon in comparison to 416.67.
31.75 weapons for a +10 level 2 weapon in comparison to 104.17.
9.52 weapons for a +10 level 1 weapon in comparison to 20.83.
But don’t stick this into a Whitesmith’s face. They leveled up to that level so they deserve to charge a lot because of that reason so don’t bug them to make you a level 10 weapon when you have all the materials unless you’re willing to tip them GENEROUSLY for attempting (you should pay them even if the weapon fails to create). Remember that they could have probably made a nice sum of zeny in the time they took to help you out, not to mention the fact that they can refuse to make your weapon that normally sells for an insane price, which is a good reason to refuse to make your weapon and instead let you try by yourself the 1/2064 chance instead of the 1/317 chance with a Whitesmith.

Now for the for those that want an explanation behind how the formula works, get ready to have a 10 minute math class with Sketches:

So now the chance of refinement when going straight from +4 to the selected levels is:
+5 : 0.6 = 0.6 or 60%
+6 : 0.6 * 0.4 = 0.24 or 24%
+7 : 0.6 * 0.4 * 0.4 = 0.096 or 9.6%
+8 : 0.6 * 0.4 *0.4 *0.2 = 0.0192 or 1.92%
+9 : 0.6 * 0.4 *0.4 *0.2 *0.2 = 0.00384 or 0.384%
+10 : 0.6 *0.4 *0.4 *0.2 *0.2 *0.1 = 0.000384 or 0.0384%

Now the average number of armor needed to upgrade is found by 1 divided by the chance of refinement:
+5 : 1/0.6 = 1.667
+6 : 1/0.24 = 4.167
+7 : 1/0.096 = 10.417
+8 : 1/0.0192 = 52.083
+9 : 1/0.00384 = 260.417
+10 : 1/0.000384 = 2604.167

Now say the armor of choice was Silk Robes which you valued for 300k and Elunium for 40k (to make the problem simpler I’m including refining costs in the value of Elunium so let’s say you bought the Elunium for 38k each and the refining cost is 2k). For the amount you spend on the armor, it would be the refinement level’s average number of armor needed multiplied by 300k.
Example:
I wanted a +7 Silk Robe so 10.417 * 300,000 = 3,125,100 zeny
or if I wanted to be more exact:
1/0.096 * 300,000 = 3,125,000 zeny spent on Silk Robes.

Now the amount of zeny spent on Elunium is a bit more complicated. The easiest way to explain it would be to go one by one through the refinement list. The minimum number of Elunium required for +5 Silk Robes is 5. So the average cost of Elunium for +5 Silk Robes is the number of armor needed multiplied by the minimum number of Elunium needed which itself is multiplied by the cost of Elunium.
Example:
I wanted a +5 Silk Robe so 1.667 * (5 *40,000) = 333,400 zeny
I put it in parenthesis to make it more clear, but they are not needed here.
or if I wanted to be more exact:
1/0.6 * (5 * 40,000) = 333,333.33 zeny spent on Elunium

For +6 Silk Robes, we know that some of the Silk Robes broke going to +5 on average, so we have to take the number of the average of those that upgraded and multiply that by the number of armor needed for +6 Silk Robes. The number of the average of those that upgraded successfully is the same as the chance of upgrading to that level multiplied by the number of the armor needed for +6 Silk Robes.
Example:
I wanted a +6 Silk Robe so 1/0.24(5 * 40,000) + 1/0.24(0.6 * 40,000) = 933,333.33 zeny spent on Elunium

For +7 Silk Robes, following the same logic, we just have to know we’re taking the success of the success now.
I wanted a +7 Silk Robe so 1/0.096(5 * 40,000) + 1/0.096(0.6 * 40,000) + 1/0.096(0.24 * 40,000) = 2,433,333.33 zeny spent on Elunium

Notice how we can do some factoring and simplify these problems a bit more:
Average Cost of Elunium for +6 Silk Robe
1/0.24(5 * 40,000) + 1/0.24(0.6 * 40,000) = 933,333.33
can instead be
1/0.24[40,000(5+0.6)] = 933,333.33
which can instead be
1/0.24[40,000(5.6)] = 933,333.33

Average Cost of Elunium for +7 Silk Robe
1/0.096(5 * 40,000) + 1/0.096(0.6 * 40,000) + 1/0.096(0.24 * 40,000) = 2,433,333.33
can instead be
1/0.096[40,000(5+0.6+0.24)] = 2,433,333.33
which can instead be
1/0.096[40,000(5.84)] = 2,433,333.33

Which in this same way we can find the cost of +10 armor in Elunium. Now we can put the two equations together for +7 Silk Robe (the armor cost and the elunium cost).
If 1/0.096 * 300,000 is the armor cost and 1/0.096[40,000(5.84)] is the elunium cost:
1/0.096 * 300,000 + 1/0.096[40,000(5.84)] = 5,558,333.33
can instead be
1/0.096[300,000 + 40,000(5.84)]
which is
Average number of armor needed * [value of armor + value of Elunium*(magical number explained in above paragraphs)]

I hope this explains the formulas I provided.

On a side note, this cost formula is why I found my guild mate selling five +7 chain mail[1] for 2,000,000 crazy on his part and good for the buyer. Let’s figure out the cost of making a +7 chain mail[1]. If we value chain mail[1] at 150k and Elunium at 35k, then:
Cost = 125/12[I + E(5.84)]
Cost = 125/12[150,000 + 35,000(5.84)]
Cost = 3,691,666.67 zeny in cost of making.
So yes, he’s selling at a loss.
But hold on one sec!
The elunium itself costs:
Cost of Elunium = 125/12[35,000(5.84)]
Cost of Elunium = 2,129,166.67 zeny
Yes this means the Eluniums it took to upgrade to +7 were more expensive than the price he offered the chain mail[1] for, so he was losing zeny.

Let’s say my guild mate decided to sell the chain mail to the npc and resold all the Elunium he bought for 33k each.
Assuming he had average luck, he had 10.417 chain mail[1] so he made (32,500 * 10.417) 338553.5 zeny from the armor and (125/12[33,000(5.84)]) 2,007,500 zeny from elunium, so 2,346,052.5 zeny he could have gotten instead for one +7 chain mail instead of 2,000,000 zeny.

I sometimes see people selling things at a loss like this, so I’m just pointing this for the people that plan to sell upgraded equipment.

I may have made a typo as this was a lot of numbers to punch in, so please be kind when pointing it out. I hope this was somewhat useful to know. ;-)

Q: How do I make a guild?

A: You need an Emperium and then you type in /guild “Guild Name”

Q: How do I use a custom emblem for my guild?

A: This can be tricky if you don’t know what to do. First, the Emblem must be a 24 x 24 pixel image in the .bmp (bitmap) format. In the RO folder, make a folder named Emblem. Put the Emblem you want to use into the Emblem folder. In game open your guild information screen, click the edit button, and select the emblem you want to use. For help on how to create a cool looking emblem read this post at the RO Empire Forums.

Q: How do I delete a guild?

A: First, only the current guild master can break a guild. Expel everyone from guild and then type in /breakguild “Guild Name”

Q: How do I leave a guild?

A: Open the guild screen with Alt G. Find your name in the List of members, right click your name, choose the option to leave guild. It will ask you for a reason, it’s common courtesy to tell them why you are leaving.

Q: Where do I level (class here) at (number) level?

A: Read my leveling guide, I get tired of repeating myself.

Q: How do I get to (such and such) dungeon?

A: Read my Map Access Guide.

Q: What does ks mean?

A: KS is kill stealing. This is more than just rude, it’s illegal on many servers. Some servers have the command @noks

Q: What is a bot? Is botting allowed?

A: Lazy players set up programs to run their character to hunt or do other tasks. Botting is illegal on most servers.

Q: Heal, Zeni, Items please?

A: No, get it yourself everyone else has to do it. Here’s a link to my Money Making Guide.

Q: I shared my equips with this random person and now I can’t find him, what do I do?

A: Don’t fall for scams. Don’t share stuff with people. If you do share with others you can try to screenshot the deal and chat, but it’s all up to the GMs of your server. Report the person, and if you don’t have a screenshot then you’re screwed.

Q: How do I auto-follow?

A: The character you wish to auto-follow with must have /nc turned off. If you turn it off you will have to start auto-follow twice. Hold shift and right click the person you wish to auto-follow, a small triangle will appear over their head and you will follow them. Remember if it doesn’t work: turn off /nc and click twice to autofollow.

Q: How do I stop lagging so much?

A: There are a few ways to reduce lag. Use the command /effect to turn on and off your effects. Use the command /aura to simplify auras. If these don’t work you can go into the RO Folder > Setup.exe. The Setup has options for sprite detail and texture. Turning these down will help reduce lag, but make the characters blotchy and ugly.

Q: The ground went white, can I fix it without relogging?

A: Yes, use the command /lightmap to fix it.

Q: What do these mean: B>, S>, T>, A>, N>, R>, AFK

A: Buy, Sell, Trade, Auction, Need, Recruiting, Away From Keyboard

Q: How do I create (such and such item)?

A: There is a specific skill you need based on class and specific items to use as ingredients. Follow the instructions in the RMS Creation Database.

Most Common Terms:

NPC: Non Player Characters, they open a pop up dialog box when you click on them with pre-set responses or set items they sell. You can also sell items to an NPC to make money. There are useless filler NPCs with no purpose, Quest NPCs which will open a dungeon or give you a needed item, Vending NPCs which buy and sell goods, informative NPCs, and basic game mechanic NPCs. The basic game mechanic NPCs are Healer, Town Warper, Dungeon Warper, Stylist, Class Change, Resetter, Platinum Skill NPC, etc.

Town Map: Maps that have Kafra and many other NPCs and no aggressive monsters. (Do I really have to define a town?)

Field Map: The World Map shows Field Maps only. To access a Dungeon, you must first travel through the correct field map in most cases (there are some short-cuts but it costs zeni).

Dungeon Map: This does not appear on the World Map. The entrances are accessed via Field Maps. Though usually “underground,” this is not always the case.

Drops: Items that the monsters “drop”. If your server does not have @autoloot 100 automatically set, the monster will drop your items on the ground. If you want to change the percentage of dropped items you keep to 50%, type the command @autoloot 50. I suggest keeping all your drops and then sell everything, except for: Equipment, Healing Items, and Cards.

Equipment: An item that can be worn by your character, found in the second tab of your inventory Alt E. Alt Q will bring up your “gear” or “equip” screen. Gear can be obtained by killing the right monster or buying from another Player or NPC.

Healing Items: An item in the first tab of inventory that can be consumed to heal hit points or spell points. Certain special “consumables” can increase a stat or give a skill your class might not have. For example, Authoritative Badges provide the Priest buff Increase Agility.

Card: An item in the third tab of inventory. It can be put on to a specific kind of equipment to enhance your skills, stats, or provide an additional bonus.

Epic Fail, Phail, FTL: For the Loss. Basically, “You suck” in internet lingo.

FTW: For the Win! Basically, “You rule” in internet lingo.

Powned, pwn3d, pwnd, pwnt: I believe this was derived from power and owned, it means, “You just got your butt kicked.”

Noob: A new player that many experienced gamers look down on. They will often make many mistakes at crucial moments and fail to listen to organized commands.

Pro: Power gamers who play their game with almost religious faith and on a daily basis. They will usually – but not always – have little to no real life social skills.

IRL, irl: In Real Life

Emp: The Emperium of the Castle must be defended or the castle will be taken by an enemy guild. It has only one real location in game despite that it takes up four spaces. Only cast safety wall on the top right space of the Emp. Sanctuary and Slim Potion Pitcher will heal the Emp.

Emp Room: The inner most room of the castle which contains the Emp. Usually the bulk of the defense is set up in this room.

Spawn Point: The spot next to a portal on the map where your character appears. You can abuse the spawn point if you know how.

Precast: The ledge or area furthest from the Spawn Point from which High Wizards and Creators can “cast” on enemies. The idea is to kill them as soon as they enter the room, on the spawn point.

AoE: Area of Effect, a skill that hits more than one square or target.

WoE: War of Emperium. A battle to hold a castle against enemies to obtain the treasures in the treasure room.

Introduction

After writing my leveling guide, someone asked how to get to the dungeon without a warp NPC. It seemed appropriate to make a separate guide as there are so many towns and dungeons in Ragnarok. I’ll update the last few towns with more information and include more NPC pictures for the dungeon access quests.

All of my guides are based off the information provided by ratemyserver.net.

When I’ve played on servers without a warper NPC, flywings (f-wings) and butterfly wings (b-wings) became my best friends. I recommend using these cheap items. Before making any treks, journeys, or other forays away from your home town, I suggest leveling on surrounding maps until you can survive. Certain maps have stronger monsters and I will give an aggro rating. Low levels should avoid strong maps.

Definitions and Terms:

Town Map: Maps that have Kafra and many other NPCs and no aggressive monsters. (Do I really have to define a town?)

Field Map: The World Map shows Field Maps only. To access a Dungeon, you must first travel through the correct field map in most cases (there are some short-cuts but it costs zeni).

Dungeon Map: This does not appear on the World Map. The entrances are accessed via Field Maps. Though usually “underground,” this is not always the case.

Drops: Items that the monsters “drop”. If your server does not have @autoloot 100 automatically set, the monster will drop your items on the ground. If you want to change the percentage of dropped items you keep to 50%, type the command @autoloot 50. I suggest keeping all your drops and then sell everything, except for: Equipment, Healing Items, and Cards.

Equipment: An item that can be worn by your character, found in the second tab of your inventory Alt E. Alt Q will bring up your “gear” or “equip” screen.

Healing Items: An item in the first tab of inventory that can be consumed to heal hit points or spell points. Certain special “consumables” can increase a stat or give a skill your class might not have. For example, Authoritative Badges provide the Priest buff Increase Agility.

Card: An item in the third tab of inventory. It can be put on to a specific kind of equipment to enhance your skills, stats, or provide an additional bonus.

*Note* I highly suggest making use of your kafra save points in towns. You don’t want to start all over again from scratch when traveling across the world map.

Town Access

To get to the right dungeon, first you must access the basic Towns. If you have a Town Warper, skip to the Dungeon Access section.

First we’ll break down each region of the map based on possible starting points. Usually starting points are class based. Some servers use a training ground, some customize their training grounds, and some have no training grounds. Since it’s possible to start in various towns, I’ll start with the most common.

Prontera

If this is your starting point, then you’re in luck. The surrounding maps have great monsters for low leveling.

Once you change class from novice, sell all your drops (save apples and herbs for free healing, and any equipment that you can wear) and buy flywings and a butterfly wing; just in case you run out of fwings in a sticky situation.

Your server should have a Cool Event Voting Staff. You can find him standing near a competing Kafra Voting Staff. The one that is “winning” in votes will provide direct warps to certain dungeons for a fee.

OR

If you are an acolyte your goal is to get to Amatsu Dungeon and later Glastheim Dungeon, use the following directions to Izlude and take a Boat to Alberta. Then follow this link to complete the Amatsu Dungeon Quest. Have Pneuma, and flywings or teleport the skill.

OR

You can make use of the Airships or Boats, if you have enough zeni. Head down/south of Prontera town (pront field 8, no aggressor rating). Then go right/east, to Izlude town.

Izlude

Izlude is a veritable trade route hub. The 2 outgoing Boat Routes are to Alberta and Byalan Dungeon. The Airship flies from Izlude to Yuno to Racheal, and repeats. If this is your starting point, you’re also in luck. The maps have easy leveling, but I’d recommend sticking to field maps until you change class from novice. Keep in mind that the Airship and Boat cost money, be sure to sell drops and save equipment you can wear.

Payon

Payon has no trade routes, but the surrounding maps are great leveling territory. First head south/down one map (payon field 1, no aggressors), or east/right one map (payon field 8, no aggressors) and kill porings to level. Once you have the idea, head north to Payon archer village. This map has no monsters the top west/left portal leads to Payon Dungeon.

Avoid payon field 7, morroc field 3, and payon field 11; there are medium to strong aggressors on those maps.

There is a safe route to Alberta, which is a harbor town with many boat routes. Once you are established in your first class sell your items for zeni to spend.

To get to Alberta head south/down two maps from Payon Town. On payon field 2 (the second map south obviously), go through the east/right portal. On payon field 3 go through right/east portal to get to Alberta.

Alberta

If you’re starting in Alberta, the map to the west/left will provide good leveling for novices. Not to sound like a broken record, but:

Alberta is a harbor city. There are also many Boat travel options here. All of which cost 10,000 zeni, I believe.

Amatsu Town can be accessed via the Sea Captain NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip.

Louyang Dungeon via the Girl NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, Louyang town is through the north warp. *Teleport to the Louyang town through the north portal and save at the kafra, before fighting anything.*

Turtle Island via the Turtle Island Scholar NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, bring potions there is no save. *Alberta is the only way to access this map unless you have a warper.

Sunken Ship via Fisk NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip, some servers allow a kafra in Sunken Ship check yours before going into the dungeon. *Alberta is the only way to access this map unless you have a warper.

Izlude Town via Sailor, I believe he varies prices based on your level save at destination (feedback please).

Gonryun field via Kunlun Envoy NPC for 10,000 zeni round trip. (I don’t suggest this route unless you are 2nd Class at least; meaning a hunter, dancer, wizard.) Teleport to the portal in the center of the map (gonryun field, medium aggressive) to get to gonryun town.

Moscovia can be accessed talking to the Moscovia P R Officer for 10,000 zeni, but only if your server has Moscovia. If he’s not on the docks then the server doesn’t have the Moscovia episodes yet. There is a kafra to save.

Geffen

Geffen is the isolated Town of the Mage and Wizard guild. The North/Up, East/Right, and West/Left maps provide excellent leveling for novices. Once you have some of your 1st Class skills, there are Kafra Dungeon warps.

Prontera 1200 zeni

Orc Dungeon 1200 zeni

Mjolnir Dead Pit 1700 zeni

If you don’t want to pay, you can walk or teleport to Prontera Town with flywings. To get to Prontera from Geffen, walk East/Right 3 maps to Mjolnir Field 9. Head through the South/Down Portal. On Prontera field 5, use the East/Right Portal to get to Prontera Town. There are no aggressive monsters this route.

Morroc

Another of Rune Midgard’s isolated Towns; Morroc is a desert city home to the thieves. All the maps surrounding morroc have non aggressive monsters; except for Comodo field 8 (medium aggressors).

Once you are established in your first class, explore further east on the desert maps. When you can survive Desert Wolves, you can walk to Prontera, Payon, Izlude towns. Sell all your drops (save healing items and any equipment that you can wear) and buy flywings and a butterfly wing; just in case you run out of fwings in a sticky situation. Use the World Map to trace your own route to the town of your choice.

Al De Baran

I have never played on a server with Alde as a starting point, but better safe than sorry. To the north of Alde is a field map with Porings and no aggressive monsters. Once you’re bored of porings switch to poporings. Then try Pecos. If you get bored there is always Lutie which can be accessed via the Santa NPC in Alde.

You can use flywings to explore north or south. South warp leads to Mjolnir_12 which has the one of the entrances to Hidden Temple; however there are Stem Worms on this map which are aggressive. You can continue south from this map to get to Prontera Town through three maps: Mjolnir_fild05 (medium aggro), mjolnir_fild10 (strong aggro), prt_fild01 (no aggro). The journey isn’t very long, but there are some fast aggro monsters en-route.

North is a long and dangerous route to Yuno, with many aggressive monsters. The safest route is north one to yuno_fild01(no aggro), left/west one to yuno_fild09(medium aggro), left/west one map to yuno_fild08 (low aggro), up/north to yuno_fild02 (medium aggro), left/west two maps to yuno_fild03 (strong aggro-mini bosses) and to yuno_fild04 (medium aggro), then through the north map to get to Yuno Town.

Comodo

Home of the musical artists of Rune Midgard, Comodo is an unusual place to start the game. I might even say cruel. I shudder to imagine a poor little 1/1 novice trying to level starting out in Comodo, so I won’t even bother continuing this section.

The Northern Region of Rune Midgard:

The easiest way to get to the Northern region is to fly the Airship from Izlude to Yuno. This does cost zeni, keep it in mind. The Airship Guide can be found here. Use the World Map to trace your own route to the town of your choice.

Yuno

Yuno is the crossroads for Airship Routes.

Dungeon Access

Basic Dungeon Knowledge:

Most servers will not allow you to /memo (saves warp point on a priest character) inside a dungeon. However, you can memo the field map that leads to a dungeon, if there are no MVP or mini-bosses on that map. Some servers may allow memo of all field maps including maps with MVPs or mini-bosses and exclude dungeons only. The best way to be sure is to test it once. Priests and High Priests are convenient to have as a second character in a warper free server, because they can warp you much closer to your final destination. They also have unlimited teleports (as long as SP lasts).

I will give walking/teleporting directions to each dungeon. If you want a different starting location than the one I listed, stop being lazy and go look at the World Map. Most experienced players know to do this on their own.

Dungeon Ratings:

Very Easy: Low level beginners solo.

Easy: Low level with basic equips solo.

Moderate: Mid levels with basic equips solo.

Difficult: High levels with good equips and a group.

Master: High Levels with great equips and a group.

Abyss Lake Dungeon

Dangerous realm of the dragons. Only the swift and strong will survive.

Amatsu Dungeon

First a Maze of shadows and trick walls to test your strength, endurance, and intellect. Next, a mysterious Underground Forest with action around every corner. Last is the Underground Shrine, beware the ancient guardian.

Most servers require the quest completion to access the dungeon, follow this link.

The easiest way to get to Amatsu is to use the round trip boat route from Alberta.

Ant Hell

Very Easy to Moderate

Anthell 1, Anthell 2

Level with the insects but beware the Queen of the insects and her grumpy sister too…

Continental Guards on the right of Morroc will warp you to the Continental Gorge (Morroc Field 20).

Ayothaya Ancient Shrine

Level with the Kitties, but flee the ghost-boy Kraben at low levels. Once you penetrate the ancient shrine, the Lady Tanee awaits with her minions.

Ayothaya field 1 has Smokies and 3 leaf cats for low levels.

Beach Dungeon

These “laboratory experiments” provide good experience, but you must be over level 60 to complete the quest. Most servers require quest completion to access the dungeon, follow this link. Non-transcended classes under level 95 (94 or lower) can’t get to bio labs level 3, transcended classes under level 90 (89 or lower) can’t get to bio labs level 3.

Byalan Island Dungeon

Easy to Moderate

Byalan to Dungeon, Byalan 0, Byalan 1, Byalan 2, Byalan 3, Byalan 4

Under the sea you can find some great aquatic monsters. Crabs, octopi, squid, fish, mermaids, mermen, and strange Strouf are abundant in this oceanic dungeon.

Clock Tower

Easy to Moderate

The Clock Tower is full of lots of neutral monsters. The Clocks on level 2 are a great way to farm Elunium.

Coal Mine / Mjolnir Dead Pit

Easy to Moderate

Dead Pit 1, Dead Pit 2, Dead Pit 3

The Coal Mines are filled with Tarou and Familiars. As you head deeper the Earthy Giearths and Undead Skeleton Workers start to appear. The deepest dungeon has poisonous Mysts and overwhelming numbers of undead, look out for the tough Cramps they are a real pain.

Dimensional Gorge

Once Morroc town has been destroyed the Dimensional Gorge will replace many maps in the eastern region. It is within the Dimensional Gorge that Satan Morroc will be found. You must complete the Continental Guard Quest to access the Dimensional Gorge.

Einbroch Mine Dungeon

Easy to Difficult

Einbroch 1, Einbroch 2

Strange Noxious and Venomous fumes dominate the first floor, as well as the undead Pitman and mutated Porcellio. The lowest dungeon contains animated stoves and the King of Animated objects, RSX 0806.

Einbech Town Upper Warp > Mines

Geffen Dungeon

Easy to Difficult

Geffen 0, Geffen 1, Geffen 2, Geffen 3

Hunter Flies and poisonous mushroom Spores dominate the first level. As you descend into the dungeon proper you will encounter Halloween oriented monsters. Beware Dracula on Geffen dungeon level 1, and the Doppelganger on Geffen dungeon level 2.

Geffenia

In Geffenia nothing is what it appears. The angels aren’t really angels, and the Knights are abysmal. Trust nothing. The quest to enter this dungeon is not for the impatient or the faint of heart.

Geffenia requires completion of “The Sign” quest to access the dungeon. This quest is long, tedious, and has many steps. Follow this link to the guide that I use.

Glast Heim

This is going to be a fairly short article maybe.I will jsut be outlining some of the main techniques players and GMS can use to control and harness the economy of Ragnarok Online

The RO economy is mainly player driven.This is the main method of exchange of goods across many avant-garde games in todays online world.In Ragnarok Online this economy is driven by the Merchant and Super Novice classes.

Prevention is always better than cure

Is your servers economy bad?

Over pricing , Monopolistic market , Severely devalued items?

Different characteristics affect the prices on a server

Server Rates

This is notably one of the most influential factor on a servers economy.
Low Rate Servers Generally have Lower Prices since money is harder to generate

High Rate Servers – Are arguably one of the major victims of bad prices due to the the speed at which players can generate money and Greed (No not the skill)

Population

High Pop Servers and Low Pop Servers affect population somewhat but its effect can swing either way.

Accessibility

Dungeon quests On or Off

Some quests e.g. Kiel Hyre or Geffenia quest are notoriously long and are a major deterrent for many players.The players that have invested their time however have access to items and cards that a large portion of players would not.

@Warp Commands

@warp Cancels the need to do a great deal of quests if left unmanaged.

MVP Rooms

This gives access to greatly increased amount of MVPs. Increasing the amount of particular items on a market

Vendor Search

One of the greatest mechanisms for keeping a economy in check is the vendor search (if the server have @whosell enabled?). The vendor search makes a consumer educated as to the choices he can make before going through with a purchase.

The lowest prices are shown first which has been roven to push prices down.

Now you might say why wouldn’t i want 230 million Zeny for my Turtle General Card? Thats more money!
Pause for a moment and ask yourself, When i feel like buying my Card how much will it cost?

230 MILLION DOLLARS!

Now lets do some mathematics….
230,000,000 – 230,000,000 = ZERO

So we can see all those decimal places count for nothing if the relative prices between items are the same.
Additionally even on a high rate server, 230 mil is much harder to farm than say 100mil,50mil 35mil.

This means slower sales for you.

Lower prices = Faster Economy

The effect of vendors

Some server have vendors for the different items that a particular class may need e.g. Alchemist Merchant Gunslinger Merchant etc. These vendors can have ither a bad or good effect on the prices.

Primarily : These merchants set the base prices for certain commodity items.
E.g. No one is going to buy a Alchemist Manual for 500k Zeny when it sells for 200,000 in the stores.

Secondly:Decreases the rarity of items sold
Vendors dont have a stock like merchants

Thirdly: Vendors can kill smaller non-mainstream markets monopolies for players

Mainstream Market

Cards
Hard to acquire.Easy to sell.

MVP Drops
Depending on the server and its rates some of these items may be rendered useless but a large portion of MVP drops are still quite useful and cand be sold at a Good price.

Killing these can be quite a task.

Niche Markets

These are smaller market that one can make sales in.Non Mainstream

Headgears
These quests can be rewarding if someone is interested in a particular headgear but doesnt want to do the quest themselves.And can be sold for a heft profit.

Quest Map Only Drops
iIf your one of 20 people that have access to a Quest Map you have the chance to sell exclusive items which you could (Healthily) Sell for a increased price

Commodity Items
Always in need. These are small profit items however they are not to be underestimated. A small profit multiplied by a lot of sales = Large Profit.

Commodity Items include everything from Arrows and Quivers to Grenade and Poison bottles.
A merchant should seek to provide these at a lower cost than Tool shop and other NPCs while still making a profit.

Quest Items
A wide range of items from Bloody runes for Valkyrie Helm or Skirt of Virgin for Pretend Murder these assist quester in their collection and help you make some cash

The Auctions
A severely inderused feature of RO on free servers
Auctions allow for the database querying that a Vendor Search Provides with the possibility of a increase in price and a Direct Purchase option.

Store Names are Important!
Obscenities and other things like Account closing Sale!!!!!1 have a negatvie effect on customers.Especially if they enter a store professing HUGE SALES NAO! and the prices are far from sale range.

If your server has a high mechant population you may want to consider branding your store.This simply involves the use of the same name on a consistent basis so customers can fund your store quicker and more easily.

Placement is Important
The main town is always a good place to vend but at times this can get in the way of other NPCs and is a ban worthy offense.With this in mind one must seek to find places that are not too far out fo the way but are within reach of nearby players

Selling etiquettes:
1) When you sell don’t ask buyers to PM you deals or prices. Have you ever been to a grocery store where the cashier ask you how much a box of cereal is? No.. so don’t do it. Always put up your own price first. Because it should be the buyers choosing the sellers not the seller choosing the buyers.
2) Never overprice. It’s bad for the economy and it will just make people dissaprove of your sense of numbers
3) Don’t underprice either. It will make the value of the item decrease and its also bad for the economy.
4) Let your buyers bargain.. and always assume that they will bargain.
5) Make sure you know the market yourself, so that when a buyer bargains they won’t bargain too low.
6) Try to give your customer an extra service by thanking them (this goes for vending as well)

Buying etiquettes:
1) Make sure you know the market of the item you want to buy
2) Always shop around or ask around a little before considering who to buy from
3) Always bargain
4) Don’t ever over cut the price
5) Be nice about it when you are bargaining. The better you let the seller feel the lower they will be willing to drop the price

What you need:
1. The base .tga files of the original Asura image. (ripped from sdata.grf using a .grf editor. ex. Gryff’s)
2. Adobe Photoshop (I use CS2, the version doesn’t really matter)
3. Basic knowledge of Alpha Filters

How to do it:

STEP ONE
Rip all of the asura1~asura6.grf and asura11~asura16.grf images from your sdata/adata.grf using a grf editor.
– asura1~asura6 = the 6 chinese words/images shown when a monk casts asura
– asura11~asura16 = the 6 chinese words/images shown when a champ casts asura

STEP TWO
Open asura1.tga with your Adobe Photoshop and go to the channels tab beside the layers.
Click on the “Alpha 1″ channel.

STEP THREE
Using the Rectangle tool/Brushes, make the whole “Alpha 1″ channel black.

Now that the background is all black, you can now add in your designs/texts.

STEP FOUR
Add your own designs/texts to the black “Alpha 1″ channel.
In my “ASAWIK” image, I wrote in
“A” on asura1.tga & asura11.tga
“S” on asura2.tga & asura12.tga
“A” on asura3.tga & asura13.tga
“W” on asura4.tga & asura14.tga
“I” on asura5.tga & asura15.tga
“K” on asura6.tga & asura16.tga
You can put in any 6 letter word, or even fit in 2 letters on 1 .tga to make an even longer word.
Edit each of the .tga’s. You can also just edit 1~6, duplicate them, and rename them to 11~16.
Save them to your \Gravity\RO\data\texture\effect\ folder when finished
NOTE: Only draw/write things on the “Alpha 1″ channel layer. And your letters/draws should look a bit like the size of the original chinese characters. If not, your letters will show up too big in-game.

STEP FIVE
Go Asura someone or have someone Asura you to test if it works.

This guide will have the places to hunt, and the monsters to kill based on your class and level. It is made based on a Server with a starting area, however it should fit any low to mid rate servers.

Novice: Job 1-10 Equip any starting equipment and head to the leveling map of your choice.

Locations:

1) Limitless RO Camp:

Kill porings first, and when you’re ready try Lunatics. Have the Potions on your hotkeys.

Willows are also good for experience. (Head right of Payon Town. Avoid the spores, trust me.)
Once your Job Levels are maxed (10) you need to change class.

First you need to distribute your 9 skill points (alt S), next use your ability points (alt Q or alt A). If you are going to be a caster class pump dex and don’t touch agi or str, this will save you a reset. If you are going melee distribute evenly dex, str, and agi. Then walk north to the town center.

The Trusty Traveler is the storage NPC. The Healer and Boat Worker (Warper) NPCs are in the town center. The Army Recruiter (Job/Class) NPC is up and top the left from the city center. The building to the right has most other NPCs of note. When inside the building head right for Barber (Colors), Resetter, Renter, and Card Remover NPCs. The left has Vending NPCs and Refining NPCs. The player market is outside the building in the main town, head left of the city center.

2) Without custom starting area, head to the map West (left) of Alberta or East (right) of Payon.

Pupa are non aggressive and never retaliate. Perfect for the flailing level 1 character. Make sure you have some sort of equipment before moving on to something that can retaliate.

When you’re ready try Porings and Lunatics. Have Potions on your hotkeys, or flywing.

Willows are also good for experience. (Avoid the spores, trust me.)

Mage:

Go to payon dungeon with some Novice Pots (Free) and kill the skeletons there. At first you will have to use your weapon, like a novice.

Payon Dungeon Floor 1:
Kill them until you have soulstrike and can equip a wand. Distribute your stats equally into int and dex. Now kill Zombies, Poporings, and the Familiars too.
When the exp seems slow, flywing past the next level and get to level 3 Payon Dungeon. Use soul strike and firebolt on the Munaks and the Bonguns.
Payon Dungeon Floor 3:
Once you have fire bolt 5-10 and 50+ int you can go to Geographers or Mi Gao.
Einbroch Field, North of Einbroch Town:
Louyang Field, South of Louyang Town:
Change job and move to Wizard or Sage section of the guide.

Wizard:

Once you job change and get a few job levels make sure to get Jupitel Thunder. When you have it head to Alligators. One map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.
Comodo Field, 2 Maps East of Comodo Town:
When you job level take quagmire. Once you have Quag 3 and Juptiel Thunder 5 You’re ready for seals.
Comodo Beach Dungeon Warp (south one portal from alligators):
OR
You make some friends by now and one of them is a Bard or Priest. Party with them in ice dungeon killing Siromas.
Ice Dungeon Floor 1:
Once Seals/Siromas get easy go to Ice Dungeon 3 with Quag JT and LOV (Lord of Vermillion). Poem of Bragi and Orleans Robe makes it easier. Kill the Ice Titans.
Ice Dungeon Floor 3:

Monsters to Avoid: Gazeti (A Priest can cast pnuema to negate the Gazeti’s Attacks)
When you get to 89+ Try to find a friendly person to party with or leech from. It really does help with a PvM class. Cursed Abbey, also known as Nameless is great party leveling. Stormgust, Quagmire, and Jupitel Thunder are great for Mob control.

Cursed Abbey Dungeon Floor 1: Ghoul Zombie Slaughter

Sage:

Now that you’ve changed jobs make sure you have lightning bolt 3-5, and a descent amount of dex. Now head to Alligators for some job levels. One map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.
Comodo Field, 2 Maps East of Comodo Town:
Try to get Free cast maxed, once you feel confident head to the Seals or Siromas.
Comodo Beach Dungeon Warp:

OR

Ice Dungeon Floor 1:
Try to find a friendly priest and tank then head to Ice dungeon level 3 to kill ice titans.
Ice Dungeon Floor 3:

Monsters to Avoid: Gazeti (A Priest can cast pnuema to negate the Gazeti’s Attacks)

You could also join that priest in Anubis; keeping the other mobs (Pasana, Minos, etc) killed with Cold bolt.
Sphinx Floor 4 or 5:
Sages have the option of using firebolt and soul strike in Cursed Abbey Dungeon. There are always large parties happening there; making it easy for any class to level.

Cursed Abbey Dungeon Floor 1: Ghoul Zombie Slaughter

Ragged Zombie Hell Poodle Banshee

When you get to 89+ Try to find a friendly person to party with or leech from. It’s much faster…

Thief:

Go to payon dungeon with some Novice Pots (Free) and kill the skeletons there.
Payon Dungeon Floor 1:
Kill them until you have dodge maxed, equal agi and str remainder in dex, and can equip a Stilleto or better. Now kill Zombies, Poporings, and the Familiars too.
When the exp seems slow flywing past the next level and get to level 3 Payon Dungeon.
Payon Dungeon Floor 3:
Max agi for survival but make sure to spare some in str for damage and dex to keep hitting. If you get bored you could always kill Orcs.

Use the SakuraRO Warper to Orc dungeon warp and walk up through the first portal, then outside to the geffen field map.

For those that have to walk start in Geffen Town. Head out the west portal. Walk South 2 maps until /where says Geffen Field 14, take the east portal. I suggest bringing Flywings to teleport through Geffen 14, there are High Orcs which are too strong for your level.
Geffen Field 10: Orc Baby, Orc Warrior, and Orc Lady

Monsters to Avoid: Orc Lord

You can also use envenom on Metallings and kill efficiently.
North of Lighthalzen Town:
If you have some money to spare, or are lucky to have a nice friend, use a fireblend and pump int and dex. Put the Firebolt skill on your hotkeys and you’re good to level like a mage at Mi Gao or Geographers.
Einbroch Field, North of Einbroch Town:
Louyang Field, South of Louyang Town:
Once you change jobs move to the Assassin or Rogue section as appropriate.

Assassin:

Now head to Alligators for some job levels. One map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.
Comodo Field, 2 Maps East of Comodo Town:
Once you have hide and grimtooth head to Seals. Collect 3 seals the first time. When they are lined up on one spot hide. You can only use grimtooth while hiding. Immediately start spamming them with grimtooth until they die. Then “mob” larger amounts of seals as you get more confident.
Comodo Beach Dungeon Warp:
Once you catch the technique of mob + grimtooth = fast exp head to Venatus. They can be found in Juperos.
Anolians are worth more experience then seals. If you don’t have a wind weapon they aren’t worth the time to kill, it’d be faster killing a seal with neutral damage then killing an anolian. If you have wind type weapon Anolians are an option.
Comodo Field, 1 Map east of Alligators:
Juperos Dungeon Floor 1:
You make good money at both seals and venatus. You also have the option to leech others for money if you’re good enough. Then use that money for a leech at 89+ to speed things up.

If you get bored with solo leveling, try visiting Cursed Abbey Dungeon. There are always large parties happening there; making it easy for any class to level. Ask for aspersio from the priest in your party to deal more damage.

Cursed Abbey Dungeon Floor 1: Ghoul Zombie Slaughter

Rogue:

You’re finally a rogue! Hated those last thief levels right? Well it does get slow for Rogues too. First buy/hunt a bow and wind arrows. Head to Alligators for the first few job levels. Make sure to have a good amount of agi and dex. Reset if you have to. One map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.
Comodo Field, 2 Maps East of Comodo Town:
Take Vultures Eye 10 and max Double Strafing. When you feel confident try out seals or siromas, use wind preperty weapons.
Comodo Beach Dungeon Warp:
Ice Dungeon Floor 1:
You could also join a friendly TU priest in Anubis; keeping the other mobs killed with Double Strafe and cold Arrows.
Sphinx Floor 4 or 5:
When you get to 89+ Try to find a friendly person to party with or leech from.

Archer:

Go to payon dungeon with some Novice Pots (Free) and silver arrows kill the skeletons there.
Payon Dungeon Floor 1:
Get a bit more dex and agi, also take Owls Eyes and Vultures Eyes to get more range. Now kill Zombies, Poporings, and the Familiars too.
When the exp seems slow flywing past the next level and get to level 3 Payon Dungeon. Keep using silver arrows and try to get Double Strafe.
Payon Dungeon Floor 3:
Once you have Double Strafe, Owl’s Eye, and Vuture’s Eye maxed go to either Geographers or Mi Gao. Use Fire Arrows here.
Einbroch Field, North of Einbroch Town:
Louyang Field, South of Louyang Town:
Change job and move to the Dancer, Bard, or Hunter section of the guide.

Hunter:

Hunter is a pretty easy class to level. Head to Alligators on the chance to get a card while you level a bit. One map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.

Dancer:

What I like about dancers is that soon they will transcend and not be so naked. LOL I jest, but really it’s pretty fast to trans a gypsy. Use dex, agi, and double strafe. If you want to party with others Fortune’s Kiss increases criticals and Please Don’t Forget Me slows monsters dramatically. Head to Alligators on the chance to get a card while you level a bit first. Take wind arrows. You can find them one map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.

When you feel confident try out seals or siromas.

Ice Dungeon Floor 1:
You could join a friendly TU priest in Anubis; keeping the other mobs killed with Double Strafe and Cold Arrows. While using green song (Please Don’t Forget Me) to slow the enemies.
Sphinx Floor 4 or 5
One benefit-sad but true-is that dancer is female only class. Therefore, dancers are very easy to find a leech for and usually for free. Once you’re 89+ just talk to people, someone will leech you.

For the more self reliant Dancer: Hunt Pasana Card, Composite Bow [4] with 2 Vadon Cards and 2 Peco Peco Egg Cards, Jakk Card. Use many flywings, skill, and patience… You can solo kill Kasa in Thor as a high level dancer. Make sure to avoid everything else. Imps appear heamless, but cost alot to kill for very little exp.

Bard:

The great thing about leveling a bard is you can help in all dungeons with Double Strafe and Poem of Bragi to support. Head to Alligators on the chance to get a card while you level a bit first. Take wind arrows you find them one map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.

Ice Dungeon Floor 1:
Find a friendly high wizard and head to Ice dungeon level 3 to kill ice titans. Use bragi to support and Double Strafe (wind arrows) to kill the floating Gazeti.
Ice Dungeon Floor 3: Ice Titan and Gazeti Ice Dungeon Floor 3:

Monsters to Avoid: Gazeti (A Priest can cast pnuema to negate the Gazeti’s Attacks)
You could also join a friendly TU priest in Anubis; keeping the other mobs killed with Double Strafe and Cold Arrows then using Bragi to speed up his TU.
Sphinx Floor 4 or 5

Swordsman:

Go to payon dungeon with some Novice Pots (Free) and kill the skeletons there.
Payon Dungeon Floor 1:
Kill them until you have Bash maxed, equal agi and str remainder in dex, and can equip a Stilleto or better. Now kill Zombies, Poporings, and the Familiars too.
When the exp seems slow flywing past the next level and get to level 3 Payon Dungeon.
Payon Dungeon Floor 3:
Use Bash and Magnum Break for max damage. Max agi for survival but make sure to spare some in str for damage and dex to keep hitting. If you get bored you could always kill Orcs. Use the Orc dungeon warp and walk up through the first portal, then outside to the geffen field map.

For those that have to walk start in Geffen Town. Head out the west portal. Walk South 2 maps until /where says Geffen Field 14, take the east portal. I suggest bringing Flywings to teleport through Geffen 14, there are High Orcs which are too strong for your level.
Geffen Field 10: Orc Baby, Orc Warrior, and Orc Lady

Monsters to Avoid: Orc Lord

You can also use Bash on Metallings and kill pretty fast.

North of Lighthalzen Town:
If you have some money to spare or are lucky to have a nice firend borrow a fireblend and pump int and dex. Put the Firebolt skill on your hotkeys and you’re good to level like a mage at Mi Gao or Geographers.
Einbroch Field, North of Einbroch Town:
Louyang Field, South of Louyang Town:

Knight:

Now that you’ve gotten through those last swordsman job levels, there must be a sense of relief. It won’t last long. HAHAHA! Anyways, your best bet at first is going with a high agi and str build, with the change in dex to hit. Head to Alligators on the chance to get a card while you level a bit first. If you have a wind sword use it (if you don’t have elemental swords try to save for them). You find them one map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.

You could join a friendly TU priest in Anubis; keeping the other mobs off him with provoke and a VVS Whitesmith’s cold sword.

When you get to 89+ Try to find a friendly person to party with or leech from.

If you get bored with solo leveling, try visiting Cursed Abbey Dungeon. There are always large parties happening there; making it easy for any class to level. Ask for aspersio from the priest in your party to deal more damage.

Paladin:

Use a high agi and str build, with the change in dex to hit. Head to Alligators on the chance to get a card while you level a bit first. Make sure to go for Spear Mastery, and Spear Quicken. If you have a wind spear use it (if you don’t have elemental spears try to save for them). You find Alligators one map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.

Acolyte:

Go to payon dungeon with some Novice Pots (Free) and use /ns and heal to kill the skeletons there.
Payon Dungeon Floor 1:
Kill them until you have heal 5 atleast, max int remainder in dex and vit, and can equip a wand. Now kill Zombies, and the Familiars too (Holy Light). Poporings are a pain for acolytes to kill.
Do NOT try to kill poporings as an aco, avoid these:
When the exp seems slow flywing past the next level and get to level 3 Payon Dungeon. Use heal 10 and /ns to kill them.
Payon Dungeon Floor 3:
OR
Go to Amatsu Dungeon once you have Heal 10 and Pneuma. Kill the Firelock Soldiers with /ns and heal.
Amatsu Dungeon Warp:
Once it gets really slow and you are close to job change you can try Evil Druids, though it may be too tough. I suggest memoing (/memo) outside the ED entrance, for a direct warp.
Glastheim Dungeon Lower Center of the Map:
Change job and go to either the Monk or Priest section of the guide.

Priest:

Head back to Evil Druids, kill with /ns and heal until you have turn undead and some lex divina.
Glastheim Dungeon Lower Center of the Map:
Now that you have turn undead, teleport to level 4 of sphinx and buff yourself completely. Silence the Anubis and then use turn undead on him until it one hit kills him. Try to get Gloria also. Luck increases the chance of max turn undead damage. Cast Safetywall on your feet to prevent melee attacks. Items like Phen Card and Orleans Robe give uninterruptable cast time. This can be useful for the TU Priest. Demi Human Reducers, and vit will help you survive Sonic Blow.
Sphinx Floor 4 or 5
If you get bored of anubis: every party is always looking for a priest. A group party in Ice Dungeon 3 or Abbey is easy to find.

Monk:

Head back to Evil Druids, kill with /ns and heal until the job levels get slow.

Now it’s time to reset your character. Go into a Combo build using agi, dex, and str. Make sure to take Iron Hand 5, Call Spirits 5, and Dodge 5 to open up the rest of the Combo skills. Head to Alligators on the chance to get a card while you level a bit first and get used to then new build. Use a wind fist (if you don’t have elemental fists try to save for them). You find Alligators one map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.

Rachael Dungeon Floor 1: Isilla and Vanberk
There is another technique used to level monks. Take high str, dex, and tuck the rest into int. Memo the sleepers map. Remember that occult impaction costs one sphere so always have spheres up. Teleport through the map and use Occult Impaction to kill solo sleepers; heck hotkey some flywings so it’s no delay and costs no sp.

To get there to memo: warp to Abyss Lake Dungeon and walk up out the portal where you spawn, then teleport 2 maps left of the Abyss. It will say Yuno 6 if you type in /where.

Yuno Field 6:
You could join a friendly TU priest in Anubis; keeping the other mobs off him with a Cold element fist in Combo or Finger Offensive.
Sphinx Floor 4 or 5
When you get to 89+ Try to find a friendly person to party with or leech from. Stone Body can be used to tank small amounts of creatures. Try partying in Cursed Abbey (Nameless). Use Heal and Stone Body to support the killers.

Merchant:

Go to payon dungeon with some Novice Pots (Free) and kill the skeletons there. Use Cart Revolution to speed it up and fill your cart; damage is based on the cart’s weight.

Kill them until the experience is somewhat slow. Use equal agi and str remainder in dex, and can equip a Stilleto or better. Now kill Zombies, Poporings, and the Familiars too.

Alchemist:

Now that you FINALLY got to alchemist you have a huge advantage-once you job level and save for an embryo. You get a little afk worker called a homunculus. For now use an agi str with the change in dex to get a few job levels. If you own/borrow a fireblend keep using that (int dex) to gain your job levels. If you have don’t have fireblend head to Alligators in the hopes of getting ygg seeds or even a card while leveing. One map north of the Comodo Beach Dungeon warp.

Once you have Rest 1, and Call Homunculus 1, and Resurrect Hom 1 it’s worth it to do the hom quest.

Once you’ve done all that I’m sure you’re quite worn out. Take a breather. <3 Grats on getting a Homun!! What did you name it?!? Oh yeah… to level your homun take it to kill some porings at first. If you’re lucky your server has the command @pitchhom <#> put it on your “alt M” hotkeys. Also tank for your hom for a while and feed it between 11 to 24 hunger. I recommend a high agi remaining into int and dex type of build to tank. Once your homunculus is strong enough you can just hang in a spot and feed it while watching TV. Make sure to observe your hom at all times, do not go AFK this is now illegal is most servers (yay~! <3). The recipient’s Vit and the alchemist’s Int are what effect potion pitch. If you want stronger potions pump Int and Vit (for when you pitch yourself).
South of Prontera:

Head to Payon dungeon and tank the Skeletons for your homun.

Payon Dungeon Floor 1:
Kill them until the experience is somewhat slow. Now kill the Zombies, Poporings, and Familiars.
When the exp seems slow again flywing past the next level and get to level 3 Payon Dungeon. Be ready with potions at first.

Metallings are easy to kill for the exp they give. As a homun strip doesn’t effect them, so one of the Metalling’s toughest abilities is negated.

Byalan Dugeon can be used to farm cards and level your homunculus. Head past the first level, and straight to Undersea tunnel 2. Use Cart Rev for mobbing and knockback. Vadons, Kukre, and Hydra are valuable and useful cards.
Byalan Dungeon Floor 2: Vadon Kukre Hydra
If you can’t stand the slow slow exp then just head to the next level and kill the Obeaunes.
Byalan Dungeon Floor 3:
Sell the witherless roses with overcharge and make lots of money. Then buy a Wind weapon and head to Byalan 4 to hunt Marcs.
Byalan Floor 4:
Caster Type Homunculus can level easily at Soils (Mi Gao) and Geographers.
Einbroch Field, North of Einbroch Town:

Once your homunculus gets strong and the exp is slow try heading to some tougher dungeons to level both you and your Homunculus at once.

Focusing on Alchemist:
Take your homunculus with you to Niffleheim Town and kill there. KEEP FABRICS! You will need them. Having a slave priest account can help alot. Buffs and Aspersio make a big difference. Avoid The Loli Ruri and Bloody Murderer.

Blacksmith:

Thank goodness you’re a smith at last! Where to level you ask? First work on saving the materials/enough zeni to buy an elemental weapon, specifically wind.
Byalan Dungeon is a great place to farm useful cards, and items that sell for alot. Using an agi/str rest dex build (some vit to live if you like) go for the buff type skills first to help you level. Also use Cart Rev for mobbing and knockback.
Head past the first level, and straight to Undersea tunnel 2. Vadons, Kukre, and Hydra are valuable and useful cards.

Transcending:

Make sure to leave your party if you were in one. This way you won’t take it off party share experience for those not yet 99.
Take off your gear and store it, grab your nubbiest of nub gear and put it in inventory.
